Forster revels in Whitehaven’s shock win

Carl Forster expressed his delight after Whitehaven booked their place in the sixth round of the Challenge Cup after hammering Championship side Rochdale.

For the second round running, Haven dumped higher league opposition out of the competition after sending the Hornets packing following a 38-0 hammering.

Following their win over Dewsbury in the last round, Forster was left ecstatic after their latest win.

“I expected a full 80-minute effort today and I got it,” he said.

“To nil a Championship side is a great effort and I am immensely proud of my team. I think everyone has been waiting for that performance all year and we finally delivered it.

“The level of intensity they play at compared to what we have, we said we needed to match them early on and I don’t think we did. We knew if we stuck with them the longer it went on we’d have chances and we executed our tries really well.”
