Just watching one of those old antiques road trip things and they visited the palatial home of Lord Derby. On discussion, he mentioned horse racing and specifically all the races that have the name ‘Derby’. Lord Derby mentioned that, although the name is used by football clubs and other sports, the name Derby actually came from Rugby League with local teams competing. Never knew that.1 point
