  1. As a child of my time, I have always had candles and the means to light them in the house. Given that I have had about ten power cuts in the last two years, that's been wiser than ever recently. Unlike the emergency stock I had decades ago, I now have big, multi-wick church candles. Much more light and physical stability. I also have some battery-powered LED lights.
  2. Hoping for good coverage in the New Vision, a Ugandan newspaper that has history with TRL going way back.
  3. There was a crackdown this round regarding high contact: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04-28/nrl-high-tackle-sin-bin-crackdown-reaction/105225414 Following the backlash, the NRL seem to have listened: "I get the frustration around the bunker intervening in play, that is certainly not something any of us want to see," NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo said on 2GB on Monday. "There's probably been too many of those where that disrupts play and gets pulled back, and that's something we're going to work on." So, we will probably get another reset and all the same talking heads will be fuming about players being put on report and not being sufficiently punished for dangerous play.
  4. Not just the Magic Weekends, but Women's State of Origin 1 is on Thursday morning too!
  5. Canberra are bad for the nerves right now.
  6. There's a row brewing about Melbourne Storm's cancellation of the "Welcome to Country" greeting this NRL round, and it turns out that club director Brett Ralph is a significant donor to Advance, a Right Wing lobby group campaigning to end the ritual. Isn't he in the wrong code for this sort of thing?
  7. Bevan French must have realised the spectators at the opposite end hadn't had much to watch for a few minutes.
  8. Who is now off hurt. He's one of my favourite players from other clubs, so fingers crossed he's okay.
  9. It does look like Miski's riding on top of the tackler.
  10. Not just a better team, but far more entertaining to watch. And I suspect Pryce and his teammates are still getting accustomed to each other.
  11. Agreed, the first half's Trinity performance, effort and attitude just wasn't there afterwards.
  12. Double movement from Reimis Smith? Nope, the Trinity player had fallen off the tackle.
  13. Wakey did well to hold out this long in a second half where they've mainly been defending.
