As a child of my time, I have always had candles and the means to light them in the house. Given that I have had about ten power cuts in the last two years, that's been wiser than ever recently. Unlike the emergency stock I had decades ago, I now have big, multi-wick church candles. Much more light and physical stability. I also have some battery-powered LED lights.
