The Reality of the IMG Grading System

And isn’t Degsy on record stating that he would up his investment on the back of IMG? -
Hull FC offer Tex Hoy to other SL clubs…
LeeF replied to Old Frightful's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
It’s on the RFL’s website - Governing Body Endorsements. The scheme has been very similar for many years -
Tony Smith and Stanley Gene have left the building..

The only 2 things that have been consistent over recent seasons at Hull are Danny Houghton and Adam Pearson. If everything else has changed including some many times it’s a bit unfair to blame Houghton -

This may be the start of the solution but it’s a very small part. There’s quite a lot of other changes required -
It doesn’t get anywhere near basic Corporate Governance

Well technically the RFL will provide input to the qualifying criteria to the Government with the FO enforcing it -
Some posters are going to need to lie down in a darkened room after reading that post

Or the random posters on an internet forum who would get sad at this

The Reality of the IMG Grading System

I would guess that most L1 clubs do not have shirt sponsorship that dwarfs the £12k central funding and probably the same albeit at a slightly different level for the Championship sides. Definitely an outlier -

Oldham currently play mainly on Sundays. SL currently play mainly on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. So it’s 1 game per week you mean. So probably December, avoiding friendlies and January if the Championship moved to winter when there wouldn’t be a clash? -
It was Level 9. It was 10 minutes. I wonder exactly how many people were really inconvenienced? I bet it was zero. It was a great thing to do not something to respond with a “confused” face

Why would they agree to that? Even the main Amateur competitions are summer based You may laugh at marketing but every tweet, every Facebook post, every press release etc all count. Drop the “marketing” and then see the visibility disappear even further -

Might is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. How much do you think the clubs would need to find to fund all central costs? Things like Administration, Disciplinary, Match Officials, Marketing etc are not free in your scenario -
The Reality of the IMG Grading System

All the costs that are currently met by the RFL which is primarily funded by the TV deals obtained by the SL clubs. -
Thanks for confirming my suspicions. All the more reason to wonder how anyone can find fault with what they did. It’s such a small action that says much more in a very good way and there is no rational reason not to support nor if next season (Eid is tomorrow) any RL is similar impacted as natural breaks occur already.

I hope they never go to a televised SL game.

Cheers thanks for the comprehensive reply. It’s appreciated. I don’t necessarily agree with your thoughts and not with your conclusions but that’s the point of the forum. IMO the points in the first 3 paragraphs are stretching the calculations but that’s what happens with statistics as we probably both know. The points available for places achieved are clearly stated and known by everyone. The next paragraph about manipulation does come across a bit conspiracy theory. Accounts and foundations can’t be as easily manipulated as you claim. The new investment should be applauded. Yes in some cases it has been a long time coming but it is overdue in a number of instances. If the introduction of this grading structure has been the catalyst then that’s a massive win for the game. BTW crowd figures have to be reported to the Governing Body and to the local authority so I wouldn’t be looking to use this as a supporting argument to claim its being manipulated. It has for many many years been the same about a rich owner being required below the top division so that’s not new. London weren’t ready for SL by their own admission. Finally no club gets £2m pa from the RFL. That myth has been debunked many times on this forum. They may get three quarters of the figure you claim Anyway not looking for an argument and thanks once again for responding. -
@StandOffHalf why the confused face? Do you think it was an incorrect thing to do and if so why?

It’s far from a disaster currently unless you would like to provided specific examples? -

And how will the new competition be funded? Once that’s sorted we can discuss the other issues/ problems with your idea in more detail -
I suppose when the just about only title sponsor is a gambling company it does create a potential image but I get what you are saying. The last 5 words in your second paragraph are spot on and I hope for the same. The rest I think we agree on. Maybe more alcohol zones are the way forward.

They’ve all said that Hull can keep him

What level was this match at? When were the match officials appointed? I think it was a lovely gesture and absolutely the right thing to do
