  1. Average tournament attendance of 18,554 which will probably be fairly comparable. Unlikely to get the universal love and publicity because it wouldn’t be a female team breaking through in the same way. That said 2013 was somewhat in the post Olympic glow of it being cool to watch sports (especially London semi) and we do have both female and disability world cups running concurrently so certainly potential to parley in to something …
  2. TBF the blue chevron does make the badge really pop. If it was a GB red and blue chevron then half the badge would virtually disappear, with a red chevron then all you would see from a distance would be the four white squares of the St. George’s Cross and some squiggles. As has been pointed out England football does mix it up. Off the top of my head the Euro 96 home and aways didn’t feature any red detailing at all. The 2010 WC home and aways didn’t feature any blue detailing at all. I didn’t like the 2019 cricket World Cup shirt when it was released. It was a throwback to 92 World Cup when one manufacturer made them all and tried to make them all different. Sri Lanka had dark blue, India navy so England ended up in light blue. Then England won the World Cup and it became a classic … hopefully the same happens with this one!
  3. Bluey is great, the Dad (Bandit) is very funny at times. I watch it with my kids on CBeebies every morning. It just seems to be one series shown over and over again. The fruitbat episode has Bandit playing RL and there is lots of watching and playing cricket.
  4. It’s not really for white Englishmen to decide what Native Americans should get offended by. I believe they don’t like their heritage being used for entertainment purposes by a different culture.
  5. It’s been Cleveland Guardians for a few months now. Edmonton Eskimos has recently rebranded to Elks and obviously Washington became the Commanders last week. These names were all considered inaccurate and/or insulting to the Native American and Inuit communities. Chiefs and Braves are still going because those words on their own aren’t insulting. Now that the more offensive team names have been changed the focus will turn on them and they will have to at the very least remove the Native American imagery in the branding.
  6. Because of the funding shortfall the Cornish Pirates chairman has been talking about doing something similar to Edinburgh RU and putting in temp stands with tent roofs, portaloos etc (big but basic) with his own money. I guess more tenants is a good thing for them.
  7. I think in trying to squeeze in every symbol of Cornwall they’ve made the badge too busy. The St Piran cross with the ball in the middle or the Chough and ball on it’s own would have been better IMO. That said if they make a black jersey with white chevron I’ll probably buy it. Got a air bnb booked in St Ives next year, really hoping it coincides with a game and will make an even better holiday in a beautiful part of the world.
  8. Exactly. England boycotted the first three fifa world cups, Uruguay won the first then boycotted the next two. Italy don’t put an asterisk next to their first two World Cup wins they beat whoever turned up.
