  1. Yeah he's done a good job tonight. But the main issue with Wire is who out of 5 top class half back/hookers do you drop? Myler, Briers, Monaghan, Clarke and Higham? My take is that Mr Smith aka ''The Special One'' will play em all and go all out for Briers and Clarke at half back, with Monaghan at hooker and a bench including Myler (potential match winner) and Higham as rotating hooker.
  2. Just back from the pub after going to the game. To be honest it was to quote Jimmy Lowes another ''2nd gear'' Wire performance against a Hull team without a creative spark. Hull have a good pack and they did well but backline wise they dont have a single player who I would want at Wire (apart from maybe Tom Briscoe but he aint a patch on Ryan Atkins to be fair).
  3. Well there will be another 1 (or 2 poss) game at Knowsley Rd when the play offs get underway. So there!
  4. Theres no chance of the Challenge Cup sell out beating this one!
  5. Not quite. 84,000 were there that day but that was mainly due to the fact the Wembley had just opened and the novelty of the final returning 'home'.
  6. Of course the the rugby league community accross the country always supports the cup final and what makes it a unique sporting event in my opinion. But imagine if Saints v Catalans would have been the final, nowhere near as many tickets would have been sold and it would not have been a great showpiece final that RL deserves.
  7. If you look at big events such as the FA Cup, Heineken Cup, Six Nations and Champions League Final etc these are dominated by bandwagon jumpers. RL is no different it seems.
  8. Eric Pickles 20 April 1952 (1952-04-20) (age 58) Keighley, United Kingdom He should be RL through and through with being born in the heartlands! But he's a Tory so am not sure!!!!
  9. Once a Tory always a Tory, he probably is a Union fan if thats the case.
  10. THE Carnegie Challenge Cup final between Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves is a sell out with the last remaining tickets for the Wembley showpiece final being sold earlier today. In a recent survey, developed by leading UK Sports researcher SportsWise, the Carnegie Challenge Cup final came out on top as the best major sports event to attend - beating off competition from other major sporting finals.
  11. If it was a 20,000 capacity ground you can bet that Sale will want to play there as well. Plus it will be able to host semi finals of the challenge cup and the Championship Grand Final plus Tests.
  12. Plans to build Salford City Reds' new stadium at Barton have been given the go-ahead by Salford City Council. The Reds aim to move into the 20,000-seater stadium by 2012 and are hopeful that it will mean they do not lose their Super League licence. Chairman John Wilkinson told BBC Radio Manchester: "It will put us on the same playing field as the clubs around us." The proposals now go to the Department for Communities and Local Government for final approval. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_leag...ord/8929779.stm That man is Eric Pickles SOS, the Tory hatchet man. If anyone can block it, this guy will. :
  13. Looks a fine ground Bramhall Lane on TV, if only there was some fans in that stadium? Worthy of SL.
  14. Your right you need a good council for starters and a few friends in high places to get your new ground like Wire. I just think every year Bradford are going backwards on and off the pitch. You may have a few juniors to mask over the fact that the big names have gone but they are hardly in the class of Saints young stars.
  15. Not really as teams improve over a season, Catalans may be red hot next year playing someone like Quins who look like they will be in turmoil next year.

  17. I think those trains wouldnt last five minutes with a crowd of rowdy Wazzatonians on board!!! Well it was nice knowing you all....
  18. It needs a serious overhaul over there at Bradford, the days of them having 20,000 crowds and regular final appearances is long gone, and the fans have gone with it! I don't think they are in danger of losing their superleague licence, but its job on for those in charge to get them moving forward as a club because in every depatment from marketing to player base they are failing.
  19. Exactly. As if Union would scrap its 4 yearly Lions Tours!!!! Union now has a successful cycle of World Cup's and British Lions Tours that keep interest high along with the annual 6 Nations and Tri Nations. In RL all we have in representative terms is State Of Origin, 4 Nations and thrown in one off Tests and a World Cup played at irregular intervals. We need something else and the Ashes is something that RU don't have.
  20. WARRINGTON Wolves assistant coach James Lowes has been put in the frame to succeed his long-time friend Brian McDermott at Harlequins. McDermott, who is joining Leeds as No2 to Brian McClennan next season ahead of a promotion to the top job in 2012, is likely to recommend Lowes for the Quins role if asked. If Lowes does leave the Challenge Cup holders, Leeds
  21. It doesn't matter it should be the best 17 players in the British Isles.
  22. Makes sense to let him go, nothing to play for etc.
