  1. That sounds sensible but I'm not sure that really happens. The ref has set the precedent if they blow a lot early on. Players know and start to play for it even more knowing the ref has been handing out penalties. Sadly you would think blowing lots early would tidy the game up but it seems to have the reverse affect.
  2. Very true. Most business models show a huge gap between top 10 players, next 10 then huge drop off for the rest
  3. Your right, some clubs have used top amateur players who are essentially duel reg with a community club. This is fine for me, gives them a stepping stone to the top and opens another door, it will bring through players previously lost to the game. All this takes time to embed though.
  4. I'm not a big fan of this. The false quick PTB stops creativity as you don't need to create gaps they are there by way of a false PTB. It looks artificial and like tick and pass.
  5. Minimum wage? If so I don't believe they have to be, but if so per hour training twice a week and playing once a fortnight probably 5 hours a week max so less than £50
  6. It's a pen because players would do it frequently otherwise. Major advantage to being 'tackled' and playing ball quick as you put every defender offside. May be harsh if a genuine error by the ball carrier but it's the way it has to be
  7. No, none of which was the refs fault. Do you believe the ref should blow frequently and people complaining the ref is ruining the game are wrong?
  8. Ref was fine, not sure what else he could have done. If your benchmark for refs is zero errors then people will never be satisfied with a refs performance
  9. As long as you never complain that the ref is spoiling the game by blowing the whistle and not letting the game flow'.
  10. Referee is responsible for applying the laws of the game. Players are grown adults not children who become unruly. Players shouldn't be treated like children they should be expected to control themselves or suffer the consequence of not doing so, not blame the ref/teacher!
  11. It's not an easy solution, they need time to grow but how patient is RL, the backers, and supporters?
  12. The ultimate point it's not the refs fault. By saying the ref could do things differently and need to review suggests blame, or at least some blame, is at their door and not were it should be, firmly with the players.
  13. Reserves is really cheap to run when compared to first team contracts. Be a huge shame if we lost an excellent pathway because team wanted one more first team player. It's a very good comp which has suffered through COVID, be patient and back it, hopefully the clubs will and it will grow.
  14. The only thing a ref can do is take a firmer stance, which means blowing more and sending more to the bin. Then we would have.... Ref is ruining the game, it's stop start, refs not letting it flow, players getting frustrated with the ref being unnecessarily harsh. Players are responsible for their actions, not the ref. Control your emotions, focus on your game and your more likely to play better. Or get worse have a strop and blame the ref.
  15. Catalan players are responsible for their actions, you cannot blame the ref for what they did. What is 'be authoritive'? What can the ref do, shout at them, yell, tell them off, ask them not to be petulant? 100% players conduct is the responsibility of the players. I wouldn't accept a players excuse for I'll discipline in their review by saying "its the refs fault I stole a ball, stepped offside, tackled high etc." If people are blaming the ref get again their focus is in the wrong place IMO.
  16. A couple of weeks ago I made the journey to Cornwall to experience what's going on down there, I was pleasantly surprised, check out our show in the occasion here. PS. Does the fire background work? https://youtu.be/jJ9lPBpcE-o
  17. It's been difficult to get it going again but a decent start. I think it will improve, I see it more as an u23s comp
  18. Former Oldham RLFC player and Welsh International, Mickii Edwards joins Keith & Dave to talk about his neurodegenerative disease and early dementia diagnosis. Here Mickii tells us how he has teamed up with the "Head for Change Charity" and his intentions to compete in a swim across the english channel in 2023 to promote the charity and the awareness of neurodegenerative disease amongst ex players as a result of their careers. 19. I agree, pushing on an open door here. In terms of clubs, they could have made decisions on best interests of all before but haven't, I hope this is different
  20. I think Like Gale is a very good player. I thought it was a good move for Hull but it really hasn't worked out. Best days well behind him
  21. Clubs still get to vote, they will vote in line with their own interests, as happens in all walks of life. This could as it often has slow or stop any move in the overall interest's if Rugby
