France U19s to Tour Australia and New Zealand
barnyia replied to Gomersall's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
They leave late September or early October this year 2024 -
The ref probably thought the state of origin rules apply in the championship, we have a massive problem here in France for that, players, fans and staff watch french rl (one set of rules/interpretations) super league/championship and nrl on tv and each comp has different rules and interpretations so fans get annoyed at the ref as they think they're getting it wrong on the field in France, even some supporters mix up union rules (deliberate knock on/pass knock down) as a yellow card in union and scream at the ref. My team lost a game last season v xiii catalans, the game went to golden point, the 4th official said to me it's 5 minutes each way ( i was surprised) we had the ball 20 metres out on the 2nd tackle, the 4th official grabbed the hooter to blow half time in extra time, so we screamed go for the drop. We missed and the ball went dead, he blew the hooter we walked onto the field to speak to the players, the ref came over and said sorry the 4th official got it wrong and it's 10 minutes each way, "it's not the nrl" so we all left the field, catalans restarted with a 20m tap and 7 tackles, they went down the field and kicked a drop on the last tackle, if the 4th official hadn't blown we would have had 3 more tackles to set up property or even score, happens i suppose, it cost us a home quarter final in the play offs,

Over here in france they brought in the rule that anyone on the bench sent off you have to remove a player from the pitch. Even if it's the water carrier, coach or substitute. If a brawl broke out amd subs ran on they'd be red carded and the team would have to remove 4 players etc

France U19s to Tour Australia and New Zealand

La france so feminine, then players selected are finding sponsors to get over there, they need to find 3 or 4k each. At least it's a way to get to Australia as the federation could never afford to send them over fully funded -
He's got a lot of work to do, technically and size wise but he could do very well if he continues to work hard,
-
He started on the wing then went to centre, for the moment he's more of a winger, he's not started filling out yet, i think he'll start as a winger and finish up centre or second row in a few years, still very raw. The full time environment will help him progress and is exactly what he needed,
-
Yes that's true, it's a chance for him to train every day as a pro with the dragons and improve, the playing against Lézignan with st Estève was putting him off. But he needs to go there or he would have started to stagnate at lezignan with just 3 sessions a week and a full time job.

Great news Clem Martin has signed for the catalans instead of Montpellier rugby union. Big loss for Lézignan but great news that he's staying in league.

It's been the lions for a few years now. -
That would be a great thing for french rl but not financially viable!
-
Sorry the poles are from 15/16 to 17/18 years old, so the first and second years are still u17s that's why the catalan lads leave after the second year to train with the catalans u19s the same year they pass their end of school exams,
-
The poles are the players of u19s also, each pole has around 20/25 players, they return to their clubs the Friday to train and play at the weekend for their club,
-
Catalan and Toulouse both have u19s but they play in the french u19s league against Carcassonne, Lézignan, pia etc
