  1. I cannot tell you how much I dislike this, whoever thought it would be good tv wants his manhood stapled to the back door.
  2. Agree, my neighbour is a 'sport fan', he watches any sports on tv but says he struggles with TGG because of its speed. He says that when something happens, the commentators and crowd howl/cheer/celebrate something, but unless the game is stopped and replays shown, he doesn't quite know what happened and would like to see it again, but because the game moves on so quickly, thats it. No replays, no explanation. That would be great.
  3. Just been on local telly, a Labour party member thanks the Tory candidate for doing so well as that stopped the Brexit party from winning. Politics, confusing?
  4. With four days to go, I have had leaflets from English Democrats, UKIP and Brexit Party, but not a sausage from Labour, Tories or LibDems. Have the big three decided not to waste money on leaflets ?
  5. Has just sunk in that they haven't played a game in the three weeks the East RL has been playing. If they fail to fulfil next Saturdays cup game at North Herts, maybe they will/should be removed from the East RL.
  6. Hemel in the Southern Conf lose their first two games then pull out of their third. Last week their A team pulled out of their first game of the season in the East League citing lack of players. It does seem like something is not quite right at Hemel. Maybe Hemel Stag has heard something. I enjoy my trips to Hemel.
  7. Week 2 results North Herts Crusaders 16 - 28 Bedford Tigers Eastern Rhinos 28 - 14 Hemel Stags Valley Cougars 42-8 All Golds Torfaen Tigers 50-36 Swindon St George
  8. Saturday saw the start of the East RL Hemel Stags A 0 - 24 Southend Sharks North Herts Knights 48 - 20 Bedford Tigers A St Albans Centurions 18 - 0 Brentwood Eels (Been told Hemel pulled out of their match as they couldn't raise a team - not sure if it's true though? If it is, hopefully just a blip)
  9. A friend of mine in Canada says that in his 'local municipal elections' there is no party allegiances. There are just names on a ballot paper and you vote for the person who you think would do the best job for your community.
  10. Kept wondering that myself. My brain kept saying Sonny Jill Williams !!!
  11. Sorry if this has already been asked (but 15 back pages is a lot to read through) but does this mean that Hemel now have no licence to play in or return to League 1 as they were planning to for the 2020 season. Can they just re-apply for another licence or are they now a Nat Conf South team permanently? Cheers.
  12. Really enjoyed it. I downloaded the series and watched one episode a day. It's not often I take a sharp intake of breath at the end of the series, but the last 20 seconds of the last episode made me do just that. Roll on season 2.
  13. If a person was walking through central London, stabbing and killing passers by, and he was caught on over 20 cctv cameras and seen by over a dozen eye witnesses doing the dark deeds, and was identified through these means, would the people who are against capital punishment on the grounds of a possible 'miscarriage of justice' now consider the death penalty, or still be against it. Just wondering?
  14. On that there social media, they are saying Neeson was out there publicising his latest film, Cold Pursuit I think its called, a film all about a family man out to get lots of bloody revenge, and was asked if he himself ever had been in the same position as his character in the film, and he came out with this statement. You can almost see his publicist falling off her chair in the background.
  15. Apparently the Land Rover was 'armoured', so to get one on it's roof must have taken a fair old crash, and just been mentioned that a new Land Rover has just been delivered to the Duke, to replace the one written off. Wonder which insurance company he uses ?
  16. Good old Daily Mail, showing us 'what might have happened'
  17. On the local BBC news down here, Gatwick have said they were absolutely certain that a drone was flown over the airport and that started the incident. They say there were over 115 reported sightings including over 90 confirmed as coming from "credible people, pilots, flight controllers etc and that the people reporting seeing the police drones were hours after the incident. As for the couple, on a news bulletin, a reporter said he had been told that the man was well known in the area for firstly driving remote controlled cars up and down the street, then getting into flying drones and flying them around the area. (Maybe a phone call from a disgruntled neighbour?) There was a mention of why the couple were arrested and although they did not go into specifics, they did say that in the UK, police now have to arrest people before they can question them, as if they don't the 'suspect' can just walk away and refuse to answer any questions.
  18. Just seen my informant (actually a chap from Hemel who I bump in to occasionally) and he tells me that the latest rumour (and he stresses rumour) he has heard is that the National Conf South (East Division) will be made up of all the London Prem teams (except one, that doesn't want to travel), Hemel Stags, Bedford Tigers, North Herts Crusaders, and two clubs from London league 1, giving a league of eight teams and a 14 game season. The league below will be the one club from the London Prem, Hemel A, the three clubs left over from the London Div 1 and the three clubs left over from East Prem giving a league of 8 teams and 14 games. He also says that the RFL have said they will not be helping with travel costs for the Nat Conf South for the first year, contrary to the rumours that were going about. As he said, all rumours at the moment, wonder when we will find out what's happening.
  19. Isn't it 8th December when they announce the new leagues? If the above criteria is right, wonder if they will they just 'lump' all the remaining teams from London & SE Champ and East league together in a league below the new NCL South ?
  20. For an amateur club in the fifth tier, St Albans Centurions has an excellent site. https://stalbanscenturions.weebly.com/
  21. This morning on BBC news. The presenter, Naga Munchety, coming to the end of the news bit said " And now over to the weather forecast. Will it be cold enough to build a snowman ….. er snowoman …. I mean snow person" Cut to the weather presenter who said "I think I'd stop digging that hole now." Have we really come to the point where we have to be gender neutral, even about snowmen.
  22. I wasn't being pro or con here, just stating something I heard that was a very good reflection on the UK. I'm sure the remainers will say 'It will all collapse when we leave', whilst the leavers will say 'We will do even better when we have left." Who knows.?
  23. Whilst channel hopping, on one of the money/business channels on Sky (Bloomberg?) a reporter was talking about Brexit and what the future might hold for big tech companies, and he said something along the line of 'did you know' that in the last 2 years the UK have created more ‘unicorns’ - $1bn tech companies, than France, Germany, Sweden & Holland combined and that 30% of all worldwide 'unicorns' are in the UK with another 54 potentially currently valued just under $1bn. No matter what your view on Brexit, that's pretty good going for the UK.
  24. On the main rugby site there is a Topic about Hemel Stags pulling out of League 1 next season. What caught my eye was - Hemel have already submitted an expression of interest in joining the tier four Southern Conference competition that will be launched in the spring of 2019 – one of 14 expressions that have already been received.
