Sun 30th Jul: The Betfred League One Match Thread
gogledd replied to John Drake's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
We (Crusaders) were awful first half. Loads or unforced errors and our defensive line was like a dogs hind leg. Fair play to Cornwall they played really well and exploited our frailties to go in 4 - 40 at half time. The dressing room debrief must have been interesting to say the least!! Second half we came out with fire in our bellies....and were a knock on away from winning - which in fairness would have probably been undeserved...Well done to Cornwall on their win and to the fans who made the long trip up from Penryn. -

Have you contacted the Club and highlighted the problem? I checked the website and you're right; theres no version of the Club statement released on 24th....I'll mention it to the Directors on Sunday. -

There was a Club statement on social media on 24th July confiming this weeks game at Rhyl and next weeks game vs Doncaster at Chester. The Club HOPE to be at Eirias Park for our last and second League 1 game at 'home' to London Skolars. The last sentence of the statement says they have a meeting with Conwy Council this week to discuss what happens going forward...thats all the info so far. The rumour around the fans is that contractors lay the wrong surface at the stadium and it not suitable for rugby! I stress, thats a rumour, but seeing as it was supposed to be in use from 18th June its difficult to understand what else could be causing the delay. -

Wins for Dewsbury, Workington and an outside bet on Hurricanes. Cornwall Choughs will push us all the way but I expect a win from Crusaders. Remember this week we are at Rhyl and next week we are back in Chester. -

We scored a try, so we did break your defence! Our problem was not finishing sets or poor discipline when we were in good field position, I don't think damage limitation was on our agenda. It took Rams over 20 minutes to score any points, had a second try from a skirmish in the corner and then resorted to taking 2 point penalties. I'd say Crusaders put on a pretty dogged performance. -

They told us the same...£5 for a ticket to get into the bar after the game...... the stadium must not want away fans money. Oh! Plus they wouldn't let us put up flags because they didn't have a fire certificate! -

Cornwall, Midlands and Skolars is who Id like to see winning but it will be Workington, Doncaster and Hornets. As for us..... I'm not expecting a win, except I may get a prize as its our Annual Bake Off trip. Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownie anyone? -
North Wales Crusaders - On the move again!
gogledd replied to gogledd's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
To be fair to the Club, our current nomadic status is not of their doing. Its all down to the stadium at Eirias Park and Conwy County Council - who have treated the club very shabbily. There are those of us who will travel to see North Wales Crusaders play anywhere but your point is valid, it puts people off buying season tickets for sure. -

To be honest, I'd be happy staying at Chester. -

Midlands (just) Oldham (just) and Crusaders (just) I'm hoping we get the win we deserved at Workington. Lost by two points on a controversial last kick decision. Workington players celebrated like they'd won the Challenge Cup; I'm hoping to do the same this weekend. -
https://www.northwalescrusadersrlfc.co.uk/post/club-statement-1 North Wales Crusaders will be playing their next 3 home League 1 fixtures at Chester RUFC, Hare Lane, Guilden Sutton, Chester CH3 7DB Due to the incompetence of Eirias Park not ensuring work on the ground was completed in time and signed off for insurance purposes. Many thanks are extended to Chester RUFC for accomodating us.

Doesn't appear to be any incentive to run an Academy, or a Women's team....or a wheelchair or disability team. There doesn't appear to be any award for the work clubs do in their community.

The Nickname, The Moniker, The Mascot
gogledd replied to Sports Prophet's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I play Masters for a local community club and think we have a great name....Chester Gladiators. North Wales Crusaders had a mascot - he was called Colyn the Crusader, and the person undertaking the role of mascot changed and when the mascot re-appeared she had become Collette the Crusader! Was this the first ever mascot to undergo gender reasignment? -
I haven't read the whole thread so apologies if I've repeated anyones choice. One of my personal favourites is 'Dub Side of the Moon' by Easy Star All-Stars. The whole of Floyds "Dark Side of the Moon" done in dub reggae - it really is superb. And not a p ss take but a homage. Last week I heard this and fell in love with it:

Book thread: what are you reading?
gogledd replied to Futtocks's topic in Any Other Business / Any Other Sports
Just finished "Game of Thrones" George RR Martin - yes, I've watched the HBO TV series and started the books - so now I'm onto "A Clash of Kings" I'm also reading "Born to Run" by Bruce Springteen - hes an excellent writer and the book is probably the best rock autobiog I've read. -
Its nice to see that Cru get a mention in the OP but I don't think we'll be quite ready for the middle 8 by 2015! In fact we just need to be in the Championship at the end of this season in a position not to get dumped down again when 2 get demoted fro the current SL 2, go out of the Championship and maybe Toulouse comes in as well! I hope that 2 x 12, 3 x 8 goes ahead. I like the format and think it could sell well to broadcasters.

Kingstone Press Championships awards announced
gogledd replied to League Express's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
3 out of 4 Award in the Championship 1 Wales Crusaders; a reflection of the success and passion at the club. Very well don to Clive Griffiths leading the team to the Nothern Rail Bowl and League double. Congratulations to Jono Smith on Player of the year pushed all the way by Andy Moulsdale, another nominee in the same category. Tom Johnson was also nominated in Young Player of the Year. The accolade of Club of the Year is one for everyone at the club to enjoy from the CEO, the Directors, the coaching staff, the support staff on and off field, the groundskeepers, the volunteers and ballboys who help out on matchdays and the supporters who came through the turnstiles in their hundreds. So very proud to get this recognition. -
Catalan Dragons fined £1,000 for improper conduct
gogledd replied to League Express's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
That smacks of censorship... Can't a club ask questions as to how one player gets a 3 match ban yet another doesn't even get penalised without having to fork out a grand for the privilege? -
Not that I'm aware of, but it could be worthwhile looking at his genealogy!

Well done Dylan.. Last season when Crusaders played at London our fans were first amused by the "sponsored by Dylan Skee Fitness..." announcements, but by the end of that game we were thoroughly fed up of him!! He did become a Cru favourite though and ended up with us chanting "Dylan is a Welshman" . Congratulations on a fantastic season.
