Shocking Scenes at an u14s Match
ELBOWSEYE replied to Tommygilf's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Only used that because I have worked there for 20 years and regular talk to parents about their kids football teams, I have lived my 64 years in RL towns, coaching at clubs schools, at clubs coaches are usually a parent who became coaches so usually have the same mentality as parents where schools don't, and I see the same in football games at junior level across RL areas, it's not a sport problem it's a society one that transends all sports. The times I've transported union clubs the behavior is better from both players and parents but by enlarge they are more affluent areas. -
I see we are at the stage were you repeat something enough times it becomes the truth. First I blame Warrington for losing we needed another score when on top, but I like lots of posters did not no ty he right call, posters on here who say they did aren't being honest. You can't disagree it's a grey area but it's still a sad Way to decide the game and the time it happens is crucial ( after 3 mins it's a talking point) The posters speaking of intent are talking absolutely rubbish, there are plenty of times decisions are made regardless of intent, and for some to bag a 18 kid even non international is sad.

Shocking Scenes at an u14s Match

It's just as bad especially in city areas, I work with adults who boys play in leagues in Liverpool and listening to conversations it's gets close if not reaches violence between parents. Kids are encouraged to injure opposition players by parents and coaches. I am not a person who tries to blame football for all our society problems but it's just as bad but by sheer volume of players and games it overpowers all other junior sports. -

Just to emphasize the difference between behavior of parents and children playing sport at their clubs and schools. I recently drove Liverpool u14s school boys football team to play a national final. The parents and players were impeccable in their behavior but I bet back at the local sides they return to normal. -

If you read my post on the behavior of junior teams at the challenge cup final,it's no surprise. Coaches and parents set the standards that the junior players will follow. Whether you like the poster is irrelevant because the behavior goes on. When playing for their relevant schools the difference is massive, kids are expected to represent the school in a proper manner, the parents know they won't be allowed to berate opposition players. -
I think the timing of the decision makes it worse, in the 2019 final when saints had a try ruled out Very early in the game that looked dodgy, not as much outcry was heard (apart from saints fans) with under 2 minutes to go there was little chance of recovering. The clash of heads with Dufty were he fractured his cheekbone would have been given as a penalty at least in any other game which since Bachelor was charged for and given and accepted points for. There seems a effort to not penalize high profile games for fear of ruining the spectacle, yet they end up creating an even bigger controversy by themselves.

Absolute legend, first RL player to receive a knighthood, also only sportsman to have three statues in his honour, Wigan, wembley and Cardiff.

When will you actually read a post , you answer like a politician, swathes of comments about the way the game was played, I have not talked about that,in fact the post you answered is more about becoming a great side, and I haven't tried to convince anyone about anything. Please read an actual post before you reply that way you may be taken seriously.

Just a point, have I mentioned the try or any call in the match, I save you looking,no. Enjoy your victory, if you carry on winning finals, you can shout from the tallest building about how your becoming a great team. I have watched Warrington in the last 15 years promise so much, 8 CC finals winners 4 times, 2 LL shields and 4 GF all lost. If we had won a couple of GF we could shout we have become a great side, but we didn't make that crucial step ( and in many of those years we were the form side). So in a couple of seasons and you have back to back CC wins and an odd GF win I will state on here how great HKR have become, just a side note Wigan, Leeds and Saints do it for year after year.
-
My god you really struggle to win gracefully, I have not decried HKR their win, but some posters on here trying to make out what happened in the game was different to the actual game. And as for ungracious wire fans, before and after the game I had grown men coming and shouting the usual insulting Warrington song ( me and my wife are mid sixties) .so save the rubbish for someone who is interested. Also as for ungracious when FC beat us at Huddersfield in the semis a few years ago I was among the Warrington fans who gave a guard of honour to the fans of FC applauding them out of the car park.

Enjoyed the day, apart from 3 minutes. At first I thought HKR fans would outnumber us 10 to 1 but on the stadium the numbers weren't as bad as feared. One note of disappointment is with some people who had junior clubs and how they control them. Outside a junior Hull based side ( junior school age) were singing the usual Warrington song( I don't need to print it) as Warrington fans passed and parents and organizers just laughing same with one of the teams going round the field( possibly Blacbrook from ST Helens just behaving the same when being clapped as they past the Warrington end, again coaches laughing. Then we wonder why they behave like idiots when older and full of beer.

You never looked like scoring until the 77th minute, as you have wrote on many posts that you don't care how you win as long as you win, well you won, but please stop trying to convince everyone that it was anything but a game were you got the result but we're nothing but second best apart from the scoreboard.
