  1. They’re a well organised team who have a game plan and stick to it. Basic minimum error rugby until they get to their opponents 25 then they move the ball around. A hard team to beat.
  2. I’d say the real problems started when the football club’s new board took over.
  3. I suppose we thought that even the football club would see the benefit of bringing the England v Fiji game to Rochdale. However their new board obviously had other ideas about what is good for the town.
  4. Rochdale has the biggest population of Fijians outside London.
  5. The statements says a lot but it doesn’t tell us much we didn’t already know. There’s nothing really said that wasn’t in the public domain back when the lease was agreed several years ago. It doesn’t answer why Hornets have been prevented from getting payment from car parking. It doesn’t answer why fans have to be crammed into 1/8th of the ground. At the Oldham game a disabled Oldham fan had to be found a seat in their Directors box because he couldn’t get a suitable seat in the sold out stand. It doesn’t answer why Hornets memorabilia has been allegedly removed from the display cases in the main stand corridor.
  6. Like I said the other day “ Actions Speak Louder Than Words “. I didn’t need telling, it was that obvious.
  7. The football club have released a statement regarding the moving of the England v Fiji fixture. Reading between the lines the two clubs couldn’t agree on a fee for the use of the ground. The original “ agreed “ fee must have been no longer valid . The football club obviously thought they could up the ante. Nothing new there. Going to law is obviously an expensive game.
  8. When was the last time an England representative team in any sport last played in Rochdale ? Has it ever happened before ? A golden opportunity to put the town in the headlines for positive reasons has been squandered.
  9. In my opinion the football club want Hornets out. Why I don’t know. The real reasons are best known to themselves. They have a newish board and they’re obviously making waves. The existing lease is for at least a dozen more years so they can’t get us out easily. So they’re using underhand tactics so try and get what they want. This cancellation of a game that should always have been held in Rochdale is just the latest of a long list of low blows.
  10. I already had my ticket for the game at the Crown Oil. Is that still valid for the game at Salford ?
  11. Our discipline has been a problem for too long. You can’t expect to beat the other teams around us playing with 12 or 11 men.
  12. We owe them one after the “ No-show “ at the away game.
  13. Well the old saying “ actions speak louder than words “ rings very true in this case. Everything the football club has done since the start of our season has been to marginalise Hornets. Even the dogs in the street know that. I can’t believe that the lease is so full of holes that it allows the football club to basically trash Hornet’s season. Maybe now it’s time for m’learned friends to get involved. It’s gone beyond talking in my estimation.
  14. Me too Doug, my kids won’t go there ever again, neither will my grandkids.
  15. You can’t really remove history, you can only try.
  16. I couldn’t make it to todays game as we’re on holiday. It’s the same every year. The best part of two months away from home and the minute I go away it’s wall to wall home games. Sounds like discipline let us down in the first half. Second half more like our old selves
  17. I’m pleased with that. We needed a bit more in the pack.
  18. I agree. It gives me no pleasure to see our rivals in this position. I always thought Oldham was a real rugby league stronghold. I remember going to that Oldham v Widnes play off game at Spotland years ago. There must have been about 4,500 Oldham fans there that day, most of them in replica shirts. Where have they all gone ?
  19. Not last weekend. That photo is from the home game.
  20. Playing in that heat on a bone hard pitch took some doing. They all deserved a medal for turning out irrespective of who you were supporting.
  21. One of the form teams at the moment. See if you can do us a favour. Play like you did in the first half for 80 minutes.
  22. Yes, we were very quiet first half, not much communication going on.
  23. Who was it that said - “ The harder I work, the luckier I seem to get ? “ If we hadn’t have bombed several moves close to the line in the first half the score would have been closer at ht although not close enough. We were second best most of the time. Second half we stopped bombing try scoring moves. In rugby league once you get on a roll it’s hard for the opposition to get a hold of the ball. I’d like to know what the possession stats were for the second half. My solution - do what football do. The team that has conceded a score restarts play with a tap ball on the half way line. At least you break up that domination of possession. Good luck for the rest of the season. The derby is different to any other game. We wouldn’t want to lose it.
  24. Tyrer is having a great season. He never seems to make a mistake. Lewis appears to have played with his shoulder strapped up. Maybe that’s why he wasn’t our kicker yesterday.
