  1. IF someone did 'square up' to MS, then they seriously need their bumps feeling ............ Probably booze-induced and not worthy of any real consideration, but it does make you wonder just what on earth goes through some people's (one cell) minds ........ Always easier to criticise than construct
  2. Whatever your thoughts on it, there are some good photos alongside details of the Award Recipients on the Club Website - Charlie's legs are pretty frightening.............. should also remember it was about recognising the Sponsors for their invaluable input and support ....... From main Club sponsors to individual player sponsors. Such a shame that Ray Abbey couldn't attend on the night but best wishes Ray - get well soon !!
  3. I think there's a few who wouldn't be unhappy with that as a scenario ....... And I'd be amongst them
  4. ........ what, Steve Menzies ?? That's an interesting shout
  5. With the not unexpected news that LF will be moving on to pastures new, I hope everyone's thoughts will be "Thanks for a job well done & good luck in the future" ...... We've played some stunning Rugby at times this season and ground out other victories that weren't pretty but made sure we got to the ultimate goal. So, we're back in the Championship and if we finish one place behind 'Fax next year I reckon we'll have had a good season..... But who would we like to take Finny's place and move us on to become an established top-half Team in the Championship ???
  6. Job done today and I don't think anyone can have any complaints about our status as League 1 Champions ....... Really glad we've avoided the play-offs - think there's some cracking play-off games in prospect and Workington shouldn't write themselves off by any means ....... they made it tough for us out there today ....... Plaudits also to their travelling supporters - great bunch and the fancy dress just added to the atmosphere ....... hope it's not long before we play them again : In the Championship of course !!!
  7. I wouldn't give up all hope of success in the play-offs...... Your guys dug deep today and showed a real spirit ..... Only when you got players injured and busted did we get on top and take the game away from you ....... If you've some decent players to come back I reckon you could have a right crack at it...... Great set of supporters today and really added to the atmosphere both in the ground and the Royal Suite afterwards ........ True Rugby League afternoon - Well done !!!
  8. I didn't read it that way, but thinking about it I think you're right .......... confused.com
  9. As per an earlier post, I think we should be at he top of our game for this one and as long as we retain our composure and (more importantly) discipline then I reckon we'll be 'job done' by 5pm Sunday and back in the Championship......... Workington are never an 'easy' game but our best should be good enough. Rams 24 Town 10 If Restall plays as well as last week M-o-M should be his....
  10. If your last 2 coaches have had less than One Season, doesn't that suggest it's "instant success or you're out" ??? Point I'm making is that Rams' Mr Sawyer has a lot more patience with his coaches and Finny would be given time to build not just a team but his reputation as a coach ........ From what you've said he could be out on his ear in no time at 'Fax with a reputation shot to ribbons ........... If it's a 'done deal' already, then that's a shame but he'll certainly go with the best wishes of a lot of Rams fans
  11. And that's the best argument for Finny to stay put !!
  12. Looking forward to Sunday's game against you guys ......... The usual warm welcome awaits and hopefully you'll join us in numbers after the game in the Royal Suite - you were definitely amongst the best visiting crowd last season. Obviously hope the result doesn't go your way but hope you enjoy the day out.
  13. Well ......... Stuart Littler, Simon Grix and Darryl Powell are all available (seemingly) if we need to go looking (which I hope and pray we don't !!)
  14. We lost away to a side that's second in the table and has a good mix of youth & experience which, like probably every other team we've played this season, wanted to put one over on us ..... The injury to Carr pulled Graham out of the forwards (and he's been one of our most consistent this year) and meant that for a large part of the game we had both Day and Butterworth out on the park ......... Both damned good players but too similar and that, IMO, affected the cohesion. We couldn't find enough ways through a very committed and determined defence that was fighting tooth and nail and, in that respect, boy did we miss Fergie ....... as we have done in every game since his injury. We're also in a silly period of the season where we haven't been playing regularly - we were poor against NWC after 2 weekends off, definitely better against Hunslet despite the result and I expect us to be on top of our game on Sunday to finish the Home campaign .......... then it's a THREE week wait before Doncaster -- Ludicrous situation !! We played our best Rugby earlier in the season when games were on a regular weekly basis with a mix of League and Challenge Cup games ....... culminating in that stunning performance against Widnes. We need to protect the Coaching set-up we have and back them going in to the Championship in 2024.....
  15. .........and the penalty for NOT getting promotion isn't one we want to contemplate .....
  16. At the end of the day we are still a very average Championship 1 team who have yet to beat any of the top 5 teams home or away. ( copied from a "Unicorn 106" post on the Town forum ) Let's hope that's still the case come 5pm next Sunday ......... Looking forward to the visit of Workington and hopefully decent weather, a good game and a win that seals things for Finny and the lads ........ Come on Rams !!!!
  17. Overall, I would agree with that ....... He played a very short 10 at times which helped Hunslet's spoiling ambitions, but that's nit-picking on a good performance from him ...... Hunslet deserved the win, it was a cracking hard-fought game and we now have to re-group and finish the job next Sunday.
  18. Certainly a puzzler ........ I was surprised not taking two just before half time ...... At the time, I did think it was the right shout to take the tap and go for the win when they were down to 12 ..... But, in hindsight, with a draw giving us promotion then Yes it should have been a 2-pointer all day long..... But, credit to Hunslet they thwarted our efforts, spoiled effectively and kept going right to the end after a lot of defensive work in the first half...... No complaints about the result or the referee - we simply didn't deserve to win today. On to next week and another fully committed performance should still see us 'over the line' ........ And that's really what this season has been all about.
  19. I wouldn't argue with that Graham ........ Let's just make sure we're not involved in them !! Workington look to have toughest run-in and there could be some cracking play-off games to watch -- assuming we have time free to possibly go and watch ?? League One has definitely been a better standard than I thought might be the case.
  20. Looking forward to this one .......... could be a belter if both teams go out to play good Rugby. Think we need a performance as good as anything we've produced this year to bring home the spoils. Be great if we can and then the home game vs Workington can be something of a celebration ...... Connor Davies said on Sunday the team are looking to go unbeaten through the season so I'll be spending Ten pounds of my wealth (concession rate) cheering the lads on ..... been a while since I visited the South Leeds Stadium UTR
  21. Interesting that you have a Topic titled 'sense of humour' yet one of the Forum's more regular contributors is no longer allowed to post because of his 'sense of humour' ......... which it seems caused Ire amongst certain York members and he is now only allowed to post on the Dewsbury forum......... Oh, he sends his congratulations for a great performance on Sunday BTW ......... I expected him to be miffed about our nearest and dearest getting to Wembley but he couldn't have been happier ....... Apparently ordered his souvenir T-Shirt with "Coolie - Dog for a day" emblazoned on the back.
  22. Congratulations..... Not a bad day all round for the Heavy Woollen duo hope you go on and lift the Trophy at Wembley..... And hopefully by then we'll be looking at a Championship return for the Rams
  23. It was never going to be pretty in those conditions but it's job almost done now after that result at Doncaster.... Let's hope we can finish the job at Hunslet and celebrate the week after with our last home game.... Nearly there!!
  24. I think LF's name will come in to the frame for any Championship coaching job that comes available ......... Obviously there's 'previous' with Finny and 'Fax, but the same could be said for a few clubs...... Along with his coaching team, he's done a cracking job so far at the Rams - I just hope he's there to see the job through, where he will undoubtedly be given time, rather than risk his career being over relatively quickly by going elsewhere and things not working out ..... His time will come with a big job AND he has youth (in coaching terms) on his side. And, Yes, I know before anyone starts, he has youth on his side generally compared to a lot of us on here ......
  25. For me, this Sunday is about putting in a good performance and getting back up to speed after a 2 week lay-off before the huge game at Hunslet ....... who turned Oldham over in impressive style apparently last weekend. Discipline is key on Sunday - we can't afford to lose anyone through suspension for the Hunslet encounter. Get the job done on Sunday and then prepare for our biggest game in quite some time ...... Exciting or what ?? Does anyone know if Ferguson will be back this weekend ?? (or available, at least)
