Think they’re live only now a days pal

Looking on the Dewsbury forum they are far from confident siting lack of training during their time off. any side with Fergie/Sykes ect in will be dangerous. A win and results going in our favour will see us top again. Such a tight divison, any win will do. Town by 6-14.

Savellio by his own admission isn’t as fit as he could be and Tali is 37 and hasn’t played much at Doncaster. Great players in their own right but coming up against a side riding high on momentum despite the lack of continuity within the league (stop/start) I think Town have too much. The typical BH weather forecast may be a leveller in areas but shouldn’t be a deterrent for supporters. UTT

Week off for the fellas but the ladies are at home £5 entry and a 2 o’clock KO against Halifax.

Jake was put on report for eye gouging according to referee after match. doesn’t seem the type to do that at all hopefully nothing comes of it. best performance in years. T&S MOM went to Spencer Fulton.

He’s only as good as his inside centre. He’s still got pace to burn and made 2/3 very good runs and had Godardd passed the ball it could’ve been different

Fantastic game great atmosphere

Rochdale Hornets 24 vs 34 Workington Town Rugby League’s third division was once again in the spotlight this week as after 4 seasons and 4 weeks Cornwall RLFC pulled the plug on the latest expansion experiment just a couple of days after a record home loss to Whitehaven in Penryn. This then adds to Oxford/All Golds/Hemel/South Wales/West Wales Raiders/London Skolars/Ottowa Aces/Toronto Wolfpack and Newcastle Thunder who have all gone by the wayside of rugby leagues expansion plans. although the latter were brought back by the fan's investment. With fans and personalities across the game all asking the same questions. Does the game need expanding. The million-dollar question that the IMG review surely must answer as Super League also battles to save Salford Red Devils, while Cornwall has kicked the can. This also poses a lost game for Town who were due to play Cornwall at home next week and away late in August. For Rochdale and Whitehaven (who played and beat Cornwall heavily) the likelihood of 2 points lost and move the pair to 5th and 6th respectively. For Jonty Gorley it has been a mixed start with a draw at Midlands and a narrow loss to The Crusaders. Their only win coming in a 0-56 thrashing of the Royal Navy in a stormy Portsmouth in the Challenge Cup in February. MATCH FACTS Workington Town travelled to Rochdale needing a win to kick start their season and they got just that with a 24-34 comeback win at Rochdale. The Hornets started quickly though as Town failed to deal with the runs of Else and Flanagan. This saw Emmerson Whittle crash over for 6-0 on 9 minutes. The Hornets pressure continued early on and by 16 minutes Flanagan got his rewards with a try for 10-0, the conversion rattling the upright. As Town then got into the contest, they powered back through Jake Bradley who took a line ball to score for 10-6 on 29 minutes. The aforementioned then scored a potential try of the season going over on 35 minutes as he broke a tackle just shy of halfway ran 50 meters swatting off McNally to go in under the posts to give Town a 10-12 lead. Then came a contender for continuous decision of the season as a 3-1 strip on Lucas Castle was given as a knock on and Flannagan got a 2nd for a half time score of 16-12. The second half was a much different story as Town won the ruck speed had a penalty swing of 4-2 in their favour and this was all They needed. Doran capitalised on a quick start to go over on 42 minutes as Town got the bit between their teeth, a beautiful inside line ball from Dom Weir sent Caine Barnes in unopposed 20 meters from the line Carter missing the kick on 56 minutes. This was aided 3 minutes later by the game braking try as Jamie Doran used evasion and skill to score. Town then added a final score through Eccleston as Atiga made a 90 meter break following a hack down field found Eccleston to score Rochdale did hit back through Forber and Harrop on 79/80 minutes, but it was all in vain as Town held on. Gamestar: Jake Bradley with two tries and brilliant defence when needed. Game breaker: Jamie Doran try on 59 minutes give Town a 3 score lead they never looked to lose. Workington Town Ladies 26 v 4 Leigh Miners Rangers 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐧 Workington Town Ladies returned to the Fibrus Community Stadium on Sunday a league higher than the last time they were on home soil. A host of new faces from the newly formed Ladies Pathway later and Town looked good to go for a tilt at the league One title. Sunday saw a Plate Final rematch as the then Divison 2 side swept aside League One Leigh M.R that day. The game started for the Ladies with a minutes applause for Town’s late Team Manager Sue Grimley who sadly passed in the off season. Town kicked off proceedings towards the Church End of the ground. It took 5 minutes for the first error of the game as Lauren Coulson failed to take a bullet pass. On 7 minutes Town were nearly away thanks to Laura Ivison intercepting a cut out pass. As 20 minutes passed Town’s own poor handling kept the score to 0-0. The score was still 0-0 on 33 minutes when a stoppage was brought about after Beth Adams forced a huge hit onto the Rangers winger. LMR were away following fantastic play on 32 minutes as Sophie Scrimgour pulled off an equally impressive tackle to force the play into touch. Town were once again denied by the official as Caitlin Jenkinson was adjudged to be in touch with Nikita Gibson replacing Pilkington. On 35 minutes the visitors gave away a penalty for an illegal strip following the play Town scored through Juliet Porter with Ivison converting for 6-0. On Half time Town again went over through Josie Scrimgour to give their dominance more of a telling score Ivison converting for 12-0. The second half started with Town conceding 3 penalties back to back and the LMR scoring through Lilly Walker on a 3-1 over lap (12-4) 45 minutes. Town were soon back on the scoreboard on the hour mark as Nikita Gibson made the most of an error for the Town’s third score despite the interests of 3 defenders for 16-4. On 64 minutes Town scored the game clincher as Scrimgour and Jenkinson linked up well to send Lauren Coulson over in the far corner, 20-4. On 68 minutes Town scored the try of the game as Josie Scrimgour scored from a 20 meter restart Ivison converting for 26-4 Town continued to dominate but couldn’t add anymore points as League points went to Town in the season opener. Town 20 women squad: Josie Scrimgour (FB), Jaya Pilkington & Caitlin Jenkinson (W), Lauren Coulson & Sophie Weir (CT), Juliet Porter (SO & C), Laura Ivison (SH), Katelyn Misfud & Beth Adams (P), Sophie Price (H), Meagan McAndrew & Jasmine Cox (SR) & Shakayla Okesene. Interchanges: Megan Beach, Ellie Atkinson, Lucy Ashfield, Emma Jackson, Becca White, Teigan Campbell and Nikita Gibson. Ladies player of the match: Beth Adams Referee: Rob Scott (Cumberland)

Midlands Hurricanes 16 v 16 Workington Town Callum Linford, Alexander Stadium Perry Bar. Ladies start with victory as controversial penalty sees Men draw. Workington Town kicked off their delayed opening to the 2025 League One season with a trip to Midlands Hurricanes on Sunday. A ground that saw the end of Anthony Murray’s tenure at Town and in doing so dumped Town out of the play offs last season as the Canes completed a treble over their Cumbrian counterparts. With Workington starting a game later into the season than the Hurricanes with the prior postponement it will have given any potential niggles and knocks to Jonty Gorley side the chance to heal, this was also aided by the signing of Australian forward Lucas Castle. Castle who plied his trade in the reserve grade of St George Illawarra Dragons (of the NRL) is no stranger to Gorley having made his English debut for the former Haven coach in 2023 and was a standout regular for Haven in their Championship campaigns (of 2023/2024). The hosts themselves have found a great vain of form at the start of 2025 by beating Championship Batley Bulldogs in the pre season friendlies, thrashing Anthony Murrays Whitehaven in the 1895 cup and registering a club record crowd for their challenge Cup tie against a start studded Salford Red Devils team and narrowly losing to Keighley Cougars 7-6 in the second preliminary round of the 1895 at Cougar Park. The Canes were also able to lure the signing of former Huddersfield Giants and England star Errol Crabtree to their marketing team and you can be sure Crabtree will have a hand in all the good coming out of the Birmingham based club. Town took a strong 18 man squad with: Walker-Taylor, Eccleston, Corkill, Galea, Atiga,Carter,Weir, Scholey, Phillips, Graham, Barnes, Bradley, Stephenson. With a bench of Doran, Archer, Castle and Ainley. The game itself was a game of plenty of opportunities for both and good defence for both sides. Inside the opening 10 minutes The Canes were awarded a penalty and Town were down to 12 men as Jake Carter was sent to the bin for rolling the ball away. The Canes a couple of tackles later were in for the opening score and a missed conversion meant the score was 0-4. This didn’t deter the visitors and a powerful run from Guy Graham and fend saw him over under the posts, taking the lead for the first time as Walker-Taylor kicked one from one. The game then continued back and fourth with few chances for either due to good defence by both sides. This was broken when Dave Eccleston lost the ball in the Sun and Ross Oakes crossed for 10-6. The game then continued to until half time and the hosts took a lead into the sheds as Jonty Gorley was apoplectic at the decisions that saw his side go in 5/1 down on the penalty count. The second half started with the Midlands on top as Jon Luke Kirby scored, the conversion unsuccessful for 14-6. On 66 minutes Town on the last following good speed scored through Jamie Doran as the hooker dove over under the posts for 14-12. The travelling faithful then went into absolute delirium when Jake Carter broken the line to score 20 meters from the posts, a sliced kick however saw the scores at 14-16 as the game was on a knife edge and Town seemingly looking to see it out another two penalties (both highly controversial as the Canes knocked on and were awarded a penalty for a steal instead) inside the last minute booted the Hurricanes from their own 10 meter line to a kick at goal for a draw and in the cruellest of circumstances Town went back to Cumbria with a point. Town Assistant Coach Dean Marwood said post match: It was a good point away at a very good team. He thought the yellow card was huge in the context of the game as we were on the front foot at the time. Elsewhere the Workington Town Ladies RLFC began their 2025 season at Wigan St Patrick’s and hit the ground running as they were up at half time 6-24 with tries from Caitlyn Misfud, Steph Ratcliffe, Meagan McAndrew and Juliet Porter x2. While Jaya Pilkington adding two conversions to give Town a commanding lead. The Town ladies continued their fine run in the second half as they ran in a further 3 tries with as many conversions as Beth Adams, Caitlin Jenkinson and debuting Nikita Gibson scored with Jaya Pilkington added 3 conversions to run out 10-42 winners. Speaking to Gareth Nicholson at Full Time he had the following to say: Really pleased with the win, it was a game where we didn't know anything about our opponents which in a way I liked, as that meant we could focus solely on ourselves and what we wanted to do with and without the ball. With 5 debutants playing we didn't want to over complicate things, so the message was simple just go forward and build pressure, we done that really well and because we were patient it really told in the back end of both halves as our fitness came through and we started to score trys with a lot more ease. It was a warm day and with the majority of the players playing 80min. I didn't once look at any of them and think they needed a spell off, which is a massive credit to them and the work they've put in during pre season. 4, 17 year olds on the pitch was excellent to see and 4 that looked really comfortable out there as well! We got everything we wanted out of the game so a really positive day all round.

Just to clarify. That was the hand signal given accidental offside. spoke to the referee after the match (to justify what I was going to put in the match report). he advised it was a penalty for it. Don’t see enough of the accidental offside to make comment

There’ll be the DPSC lot in we are making it a weekender. UTT

Yeah none of the RC equipment works down there. I’ll jump on as I did last season. 1:55. UTT

Narrow pitch down there. Middles need to lay a good platform. they do that and we should come away with the points Canes 10-18 Town

It’s gusts that rather than sustained. played in stronger at Portsmouth fingers crossed
