I agree. It should have never been announced on camera at all imo, but the sequence wasn’t as BodB intimates, but AP puts the money in so I guess he can do things as he feels. I think the control of the players had been lost by LF. The catalyst was Ellis asking him to leave the dressing room after a loss. Bad thing to do in front of the 1st team and I think is referred to in GE’s book. For the record, I don’t think Smith should’ve been sacked at all. Sacking the coach without one to take over isn’t really a good plan in anyone’s book. Never did make sense.

There is a fair bit of discomfort on Red V forum regarding Wellens but then these are the same fans that said Walmsley was garbage. Like I said, Salford have offered Rowley already for £150k. There is no forever home at the Reds. Anyway, could be that McDemott and Briers are in the box seat, according to Sky, which I’m surprised at. In the first instance I would have preferred Holbrook over everyone else but sacking Tony Smith didn’t make sense to me. Serious injuries to key players, missing out on half backs and then players getting banned all exacerbated the situation.

Would be surprised. Salford gave Hull a figure of 150k as compensation. Hull appear to have agreed to paying it. Imo that means that Salford were willing to let him go, so it’s not a case of ‘we dont want you leave Paul’. If any other Club nearer to his home matches that offer I’m sure the Reds will not stand in his way.

Film Thread (What have you been watching?)

Heard of it but never seen it. I watched ‘We will soar’ on Prime. The story of young lads and a lass, completing an American football scholarship in fort lauderdale. I won’t spoil the story but it was very humbling and these kids showed so much respect for the college staff. Worth a watch. -
It’s been going on for so long. Also, some Refs call it, some let it go. I agree it’s a concern but it seems that the messages on safer tackling are getting out there. Let’s hope those messages are demonstrated more by the Pro’s.

There was a lot more to that video than just lifting a leg. That was commented on to get the Ref to call ‘held’ and the tackle was complete. Think you’ve picked one item to suit your gripe Oxy

If the tackler lifts the ball carriers leg in the tackle,( when stationary), isn’t the Ref supposed to call held Lee?

So the records aren’t true? -
All sports in France need to have insurance after a check by the Doctor. It’s pretty much a money spinner, well it was for me playing golf. The Doctor asked me if I was fit and well. ‘Yes’. ‘Ok, sign here. That’ll be €43.

Interesting to hear the views of Peter Sterling and Steve Roach on one of James Grahams videos on RL tours. Worth a watch. -
Although these things are done at speed or when a players is falling onto another and his focus is on an upper body part/lending weight into a gang tackle, still should be classed as foul play and as you say, problematic. Unfortunately the RFL occasionally miss these such as the Lacans injury caused by a Halton hip drop, supplemented by Hardaker tackle.

It’s not in APs interests to hang him out to dry Lee. The most obvious(to me and also someone else who mentioned it today) is that you don’t sack a coach without having someone to step in. Grix has already said he came to learn as an assistant. That tells me he is happy as an assistant at the mo. No names mentioned for a new coach as yet.
