  1. Has he still got another year, after this, on his contract for the Dogs?
  2. This is something raised by Brett Hodgson a few weeks ago and that our clubs will need to be self sufficient with more home grown players. Also that we will have another club, the Dolphins, to contend with.
  3. I think that’s were I am with Thompson. Granted I haven’t seen his most recent game but I just don’t think he’s a Rep standard prop forward. Happy if he proves me wrong though.
  4. He looks relaxed and comfortable in the position, plus he has strength. On the effort he made when finishing just short of the line - when he got the ball I didn’t think he’d get anywhere near. Early days but some promise going into the WC.
  5. Apart from DY getting cut up by a Knights overload in defence, he had a very good first half v the Dogs.
  6. Not sure which it was mate. The first, saw the Knights player wince and then have a go at Thompson the 2nd was later on. I suppose a positive is that he got through it uninjured.
  7. The Dogs v Knights friendly is on YouTube. Thompson has a very quiet game from an involvement point of view. Only played 35 mins ish but, I think , ended up with a fine for a tackle indescretion.
  8. Anything that gives another pathway into the pro teams is good. It wasn’t uncommon, in fact far from it, for ex pro’s to drop into the national league in England but it’s really just shoving another hopeful out. How is the young gentleman going at the pole espoirs by the way?
  9. Several player putting their hands up indicating go for the ‘2’ and then the camera went away from the action. Next thing Esteve are playing the click down after a dropped ball by Limoux! Limoux actually deserved at least a draw. Esteve play a very reserved, no risk game which imo doesn’t suit them.
  10. Will be very interested to see how Lewis Bienek goes after an up and down experience last 2 years. Maybe settling back into home ground will spur him on.
  11. Indeed. I think everyone will be happy for Wakey getting this project underway and it will have had enough banter in the pubs and clubs of the district over the years. Spending the brass wisely is the next step and keeping tabs on the construction management. Every error involves cost.
  12. The RFL really should have refined strategies by now on how to gain volunteers, sponsorship, marketing and getting grants. I went through all this 30 years ago and had to find it all myself, but this information, contacts and support would be essential and exactly what Cornwall should have already received already. If they havent, then the last line of your post is exactly true.
  13. I think the Oxford ‘project’ would have been part of this as I believe all you say was around 2012 onwards, joining L1 the next year. They would have been part of this strategy. https://www.rugby-league.com/uploads/docs/RFL-Rugby League Strategic Plan 2014-2021.pdf Then should have been part of this, below, after the merger, which was issued after the 2018 RFL ‘ mid term ‘review’. https://www.rugby-league.com/uploads/docs/RFL STRATEGY EXTERNAL.pdf These ‘Strategic plans’ have never given enough information, of refer to, on how goals are actually achieved or long term strategy is prepared or even delivered. It would have been better, if the conclusions (I think at least 1 was) were made public as well. This detail isn’t wholly available to us mere mortals afaik. Transparency? It just goes to show, especially given the current status in the game between RFL and SL, there isn’t enough money allocated or a detailed, long term plan for development. This is why, in another thread, I mentioned that development areas need to be discussed down to the fine details necessary, to identify the essential requirements and resources needed for a strategy and key, achievable benchmarks and monitoring processes.
  14. Some of the best times of my life surfing in Cornwall. As long as Cornwall don’t have any doubts, that’s what matters. Certainly appealing to players on the cusp of upper amateur/pro level and what an experience it might be. One positive is that visiting clubs won’t have any issues with passport control
  15. I would be ok with that although it would have to go up a few notches in quality, compared to the previous one.
  16. Red John mentions the mobile variety and I think that would ideally supplement any museum. Stepho, who used to run the museum and own lot of the memorabilia in it had a lot of success with a mobile roadshow in Aus. It would also be an ideal way to improve match day experiences at Clubs.
  17. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/national-museum-will-be-in-hudderfields-george-hotel-insists-rl-cares-charity-3463236 Seems RL Cares insist the museum will be in the George.
  18. Lighten up mate, it was written tongue in cheek based on previous comments.
  19. Could be and it’s an interesting suggestion. Decision making will probably be the key to either switching roles but neither will get much quicker, just more intelligent in how they use it. Centre is a very skilled position imo and involves an unselfish mindset at times. Farnworth appeared to be developing that last year. Of course, we still have to consider all the errors, dropped balls, etc etc, etc that Young has every game.
  20. Amazing statistic for Dominic Young who is by no means a lightweight. Farnworth and Young might just be a feared England pairing for the years ahead. Big year, maybe even breakthrough, for both of them coming up.
  21. If you read my previous comments I haven’t suggested they should play players purely on potential or that they must be inexperienced. The comments I was referring to where exactly my point. The bottom half of L1 is very little difference to upper National Conference and RU players get ‘trialled’ in that. To be a success Cornwall will absolutely need players who can play (see comments on ‘bought in’ players) but, given the timescale, they will need to field a side first and that remains to be seen.
