The allerdale council website states that both clubs will be consulting with supporters in the next couple of weeks but I am sure the way Chris Thorman spoke on podcast the other day he is convinced it's the way forward

I understand what you are saying and people's attachment to derwent park but this week was just the approval of the money available for the development, when plans are actually drawn up hopefully people may see it differently ,the new stand should be more comfortable with better sight lines and improved corporate facilities. On a side note where are the times and star at,surely they should be reporting what has happened and getting feedback from councillors and clubs

There will be no management company as such,just a board consisting of representatives from both clubs so profits will be going directly back to the clubs. Even though I have initial reservations of how the design might be the positives will easily outweigh the negatives, less maintenance, halfing of all bills, hire of synthetic pitch and more chance to increase corporate sponsorship packages, it is the clubs that are driving this and there is absolutely zero money available for town to go it alone and stay put. There is also the community aspect this project hopefully will expand the club more ,helping develop juniors and women's teams. It is going to be a massive challenge for all involved and needs the support of all sports minded people

From what I can make out it is basically going to be a new grandstand at borough park and a synthetic pitch, the rest of the ground stays same until other money becomes available. Work possibly to start September 2023 and open a year later .Really complicated read and still a hell of a lot of work to be done by essentially volunteers as the council seem to be taking a step back. Well having scanned through the 500 or so pages of town deal funding from yesterday's council executive meeting it seems you dont get a lot for 6.5 million pounds these days ,although really appreciate the efforts of the directors who will be involved in jumping through hoops to achieve a workable solution

My biggest worry with the whole town deal fund money is that once the plans are submitted the government rejects the ideas and we are back to square one, jenkinson is one slippery customer and not to be trusted. As far as I can make out the plans and business case have to be submitted by March so not long to go

The 4.5 million pounds has been allocated on a bid to develop the borough/lonsdale park site,there is no other sites for this funding ,therefore it is essential that all supporters get behind whatever proposals because there are plenty others out there who will be trying to block the development once the plans are announced .Both clubs need a stadium to help bring in new investors and sponsors, it is only then that money will be available to strengthen the team

Let's hope for a bit more vision than that,if you get chance look up the new south shields fc stand ,raised seating, sponsors boxes ,large bar and standing below, just hope there is some news soon because this has dragged out way too long

Well worth a read. As I like to chop and change my reads I am now revisiting an old hero and starting Sharpe's Assassin, let's hope it lives up to the rest of the series
