  1. The game is delayed by 10 minutes cos they're having trouble getting the crowd into the ground. We'll that's encouraging that there's so many fans they can't cram them all in!
  2. Just been out and got my snacks for this game. Got some crisps, some flapjacks, a quiche and a lasagne. Bring on the game!
  3. On this day in 1904, the Russian Baltic fleet fired on Hull's Gamecock trawler fleet on the Dogger Bank, claiming to have mistook them for the Japanese Navy. They sunk the trawler Crane, killing 2 crewmen and injuring 30 others.
  4. On this day in 1966, the Aberfan Disaster occurred where a colliery spoil tip collapsed onto a number of houses and a school killing 144 people, 116 of which were children.
  5. I think I'm seeing things again, don't know what was in that water I just drunk cos I'm seeing three of you!!
  6. This is fantastic. RL has been so pioneering over the years when it's come to race and it's great to see one of those pioneers being remembered.
  7. I'd say less in terms of national identity. We are very proud of the area we are from, in my opinion there is no one prouder of their place of birth than a Yorkshireman but I don't think I've ever come across masses of national patriotism.
  8. On this day in 1793, Queen Marie Antoinette is executed. On this day in 1834, the ancient Palace of Westminster burns to the ground.
  9. https://www.seriousaboutrl.com/revealed-the-three-players-already-confirmed-for-england-83769/ According to this article the announcement has been delayed until tomorrow so could be as you say.
  10. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/three-super-league-players-named-in-tonga-squad-for-england-series-but-big-names-missing-4358662 Tonga squad. Tyson Frizell set to play for his 3rd different nation.
  11. In all honesty I'm the same. I was gonna travel across to Huddersfield when it was announced but I just aren't excited enough for this series, and like yourself, just can't be bothered with the hassle.
  12. Please, don't joke around, I wouldn't be seen dead hanging out with a load of townie ducks! I'm a country bird, can't be doing with any of these urban flappers, "oh look at me, I'm a hipster duck, swimming round in a canal, ooh, aren't I special!" Please, get yourself in the River Hull annoying the pole fishermen around Figham Pastures and then we'll talk!
  13. Fair enough, I didn't know about the large goose community in Manchester, like I say, never flown over that way and hung out with the locals.
  14. I'll just fly off if I see any questionable characters.
  15. I don't do too much complaining about attendances but I must say I do hate this point when it's offered. Some of us would love to go to the GF every year, and I would if I won the lottery, but some of us come from working class, Northern cities and are very poor to the point where I'm currently getting ready to leave work and am trying to think where the cheapest place to buy a block of cheese is round here and whether I can afford another pack of jacket spuds as well.
  16. I'm going to Manchester for the first time proper on Thursday. Never had an actual visit there, transited through but not actual boots on the ground so to speak. I'm not gonna be going into the middle too much though, just train to Victoria, walk out of there and into the cathedral which is basically across the road. Into the National Football Museum which is next door. Round the corner to the tram stop, tram to the Imperial War Museum, walk across the bridge to Media City to get a tram from there to Piccadilly. Seeing everything I want to see without going into the middle! Sorted!
  17. Well I was only listening on the radio but from what I heard it sounded like Catalans were absolutely rubbish. Didn't sound like they had a single decent go at the Wigan line and it sounded like the kicking game had completely deserted them as had discipline I guess with the two sin-binnings. Well there's always next year. Well done Wigan.
  18. A couple of big battles today; On this day in 1066, the Norman Conquest of England began with the Battle of Hastings. On this day in 1806, Napoleon's Grande Armee decisively defeated the Prussians at the Battle of Jena-Auerstedt.
  19. I've been down the local library and reserved this, should be able to pick it up next week and will probably take me a couple of weeks to read so I can give you a detailed report in about 3 weeks!
