  2. I've had a lovely time down here for the weekend and I've enjoyed all the hospitality the region offers but I'm told for the Hurricanes, this is our record win, record points scored, record number of conversions (and record for those taken by one player). Jake Sweeting was truly awesome with the boot today. Also mentions for the junior Welhams who had great games.
  3. Hurricanes were awesome today and showed they had learnt from disappointing performances in previous weeks. They would have blown away Crusaders and Hunslet playing like they did today. I think I've heard that Cornwall were missing key players with injuries so it might have been closer but.. You know. The attendance was down on previous years and it wasn't all down to the reduced numbers of away fans due to weddings and funerals and that kind of shizzle. Still a buzz at the ground and the death of rugby league expansion can safely be parked offsite for some time yet.
  4. Hoping Hurricanes cut out the errors tomorrow and get their season back on track. Last week's defeat to Hunslet was hugely disappointing but we do have the squad to compete for the playoffs.
  5. SUNDAY 14th APRIL Swinton Lions v Sheffield Eagles If you don't fancy the trip over the Pennines to deepest darkest Lancashire...there's a game going on at Olympic Legacy Park...just saying
  6. Keighley Cougars 34 v 12 North Wales Crusaders Midlands Hurricanes 22 v 18 Hunslet at Olympic Legacy Stadium, Sheffield (handy as I'm in Leeds the day before) Oldham 66 v 18 Cornwall Rochdale Hornets 34 v 12 Newcastle Thunder
  7. Hunslet 24 v 28 Oldham North Wales Crusaders 42 v 12 Newcastle Thunder Workington Town 16 v 24 Rochdale Hornets
  8. Yes, good summary I reckon. Hurricanes do need to improve if we are to be involved with the play-off places but we have good players and a coach who I expect will get the best out of them. Was hoping for that today but left a little disappointed. Credit to Crusaders whio were well organised as usual and defended superbly. The main difference was perhaps the nous that comes from the well-seasoned pros like Ah Van, Forster and Barratt (lol).
  9. Dave Hewitt though.....wow!
  10. I'm just as annoyed as I had plans for the Saturday too and I'd just finished reorganising my calendar due to rail strikes and Sky TV changing Leeds United fixtures My understanding is that Birmingham Council suddenly realised they had already arranged an athletics meeting or something. Out of the club's control unfortunately.

  12. You may have already noiticed but the upcoming game has been moved to Saturday 27th April - 2pm kick off. The good news is that you will get to see us in the main Alexander Stadium (at last!)
  13. Coventry Bears played 3 away ganes at Oldham's Whitebanks Stadium in the space of maybe 4 weeks. League 1, Challenge Cup, that other competition that preceded the 1895. They were all played in torrential rain and the whole ground looked like the Somme. Needless to say we got spanked each and every time. Not looking it up but would have been about 10 years ago,
  14. Cornwall have a key player suspended? Not a good look at this time but expect them to be kicking harrises before long.
  15. Exactly. Get stuck in. It's tough this year as most team have made improvements and it won't be any easier next year. You've done this before, you can do it again. Good luck to you.
  16. Canes win 70-16. Some good tries, just need to work on defence.
  17. Hurricanes 30 Newcastle 16 half time. Midlands rather sloppy but comfortable in the lead. Thunder got plenty of flight in them so it's a good game. My first time in the main stadium and I'm really impressed.
  18. Cornwall v North Wales Crusaders 16-36 Keighley Cougars v Workington Town 28-22 Midlands Hurricanes v Newcastle Thunder 58-12 Rochdale Hornets v Hunslet 28-32
  19. Do we not have regulations about this kind of thing? Hopefully everyone travelling to cheer on Crusaders gets to watch the game. Assuming the early kick off doesn't scupper their travel plans.
  20. I'm also pretty casual when it comes to supporting San Diego. Already paying for American Assocation TV so I can follow my real first team - Winnipeg. Go you Goldeyes!
