  1. Good result, but what was excellent to see was all the new faces watching. The work going on behind the scenes is just starting to reap rewards. Well done to those who are putting it together
  2. I like Marwood, makes things happen each time I've seen him play
  3. I went to the meeting where jenkinson and 5 others put a last minute halt to the stadium being built. It would have been built, world cup games staged, and we would have one place for all doctors instead of a number of places. We would also have had a good number of sellafield staff working in the town. And he based the veto on mythical figures to frighten people. The council he was part of could have had everything in place with a stadium built now. He and the others in the council he was part of have failed to deliver, yet they were desperate to ensure the council bought the ranch with less facilities than it had 40 years ago. That's progress for you
  4. A lot of this team were playing NCL 3 or Cumberland league last year as long as they do their best and develop that's good enough. They're going to get poor results now and again. Remember only last year players costing a lot more were trying a lot less. I'd much rather watch this team, that's for sure.
  5. Lack of size and aggression in the forwards, lack of pace on the left hand side imo. You can only judge half backs in a team that moves forwards. Poor discipline cost us points. Some good things though, burns and sabutey looked good as did Hurst. The most pleasing thing was they played for each other.
  6. We've gone there with supposedly better teams than this and got well beaten. Well done keep putting the effort in, it's good to see after last year's debacle.
  7. Agreed, my point is the current regime seem keen on an area that has no amenities whatsoever when common sense should dictate the sports village would accommodate all the teams as the initial proposal had identified, with additional all weather facilities.
  8. That's not an accurate statement really, MJ was voted in 3rd at Seaton (I think), and basically railroaded the meeting that put the kibosh on the original plans. The overall vote turnout in the area was poor. What was being attempted by the previous council was to drag the facilities for sport up to modern standards. It says a lot that they are desperate now to secure the ranch to play football on when it had better facilities 30 years ago (when I played cricket on it). Personally I'm still waiting for the delivery of what was promised and sincerely hope we have new facilities for all.
  9. Listening to DB's interview it sounded like they still have to satisfy certain criteria to receive the maximum funding, then the clubs need to agree. I would imagine that means what is it going to cost them to play there. What concerns me is how are reds and town going to generate income outside of gate receipts, as it maybe unaffordable to play there. To me in 3 years or so these questions should have already been answered
  10. We would have had a new stadium built already but for Jenkinson and 5 other councilors who vetoed it at the very last point, with a promise to build something affordable. 3 years on and they are still discussing the why's and wherefores. Nobody knows for sure whether it will be a tin hut or decent or if anything will even be built. The facilities at all levels of sport are worse now than they were 35 years ago shameful tbh
  11. If he told me it's raining I'd have to check.

To be fair they've not exactly set the world on fire.
  14. Imo we have the slowest set of backs, slowest half backs and smallest pack in the league. Added to that, there is no fight in the side (aside from a couple) your not going to win games.
  15. The problem I have with a 5k capacity is that it isn't big enough for world Cup games, also if workington were to get back to the top level of RL, which is possible it wouldn't be a big enough capacity. If the stadium capacity could be increased, who would pay for this, both clubs? To me the stadium if built ( I'm very sceptical), needs to be large enough to ensure no extra building needs done.
  16. That opportunist of an MP cost the clubs a new stadium, games at the rugby league World Cup, NHS and sellafield employees based at the stadium bringing extra spending into the town, based on scaremongering about costs which had already been proven by the paid employees in the council who's job it was to make sure nobody including the taxpayer got lumbered. Believe what he says at your own risk.
