  1. It feels a bit arbitrary, I'm not sure how you'd enforce it. The top of the sternum is almost level with the shoulders which is where the rule is now.
  2. The design itself is fairly well done, but yeah the colours ruin it. They should have gone for a more conservative palette and had the design a bit more subtly incorporated.
  3. I think it's more reasonable for them to pay when they're in the Championship as they've entered into the British system and it's not a rich division. In Super League though it's madness, from the outset it was Super League Europe. Clubs should have to factor foreign trips into their budgets. It can't be fair for them to have to pay travel (for either themselves or the opposition) for every single fixture they play.
  4. Given where the Broncos are now you could just do a straight North/South split between them and Skolars.
  5. It's not as wildly low as we often see for RFL jobs. It's obviously not high and is at the low end of the market, however materially given they're working under a Head of Marketing & presumably an IMG consultant they job is probably more akin to a Marketing Assistant for which the pay isn't unreasonable. Obviously it differs industry to industry, as others have alluded to there's a lot of people who want to work in sports and are more forgiving of earning less than the equivalent role in another industry.
  6. Absolutely baffled by that, seems just wishful thinking.
  7. Reading on John Davidson's twitter about Toulouse's plans for the season. They're aiming for full time with 20 players then the rest of the squad made up of home grown players from their reserve team. Seems they've taken the IMG guidance re: French teams having a minimum number of French players seriously and are acting accordingly. To be honest it probably doesn't make sense for them to go hell for leather for promotion this season when they could work on fulfilling the criteria to get a high B status to get promoted at the end of 2024.
  8. I think both codes governing bodies are in a bit of a bind when it comes to rule changes. We know that we're seeing people with brain injuries most likely caused by the game, these however were caused 20 or so years back. We're changing things right now but we're not going to see what those changes do until some time in the future. It's possible, not probable but possible, in RL that the clampdown on high shots has reduced the risk to current players massively. However we're still going to see a number of players diagnosed year or year because those are already baked in from where the game was years back, and naturally we'll react to those players coming forward by changing things further.
  9. I'm all for teams trying stuff new tactically. It's one of the drawbacks of the modern game that teams more or less play the same way and whoever is the superior team/executes better wins. You don't get teams surprising the opposition or real clashes of styles.
  10. Where's this coming from? Did you both hear this at the match or is it reported somewhere? Its potentially very interesting.
  11. The thing that I fear from this is forcing players to go low when even it's not appropriate. Dependent on the situation a higher tackle is safer and more effective.
  12. They continue to amaze. Obviously another classic bit of 4D chess from Derek to get us all talking about the game, free publicity, "caught another one " etc. etc.
  13. I think it is worth stressing that this bloke doesn't work for IMG he works for RFL Commercial, his job will be receiving and implementing the IMG plans. I think he's probably opened himself up to this a bit by spitballing a few ideas.
  14. None of these animals could handle the ball. I'm going an ape of some sort.
  15. I mean this is just "if my auntie had ******** she'd be my uncle" logic. If a revolution occurs authority passes over to the new group, that isn't a refutation of the idea that currency derives it's value from the issuer holding power it's an assertion of that. Bitcoin never, ever, has this, this is the difference. You can't say fiat currency and bitcoin are of equivalent value because nation states might collapse tomorrow because we know in reality that isn't going to happen.
  16. But that's fully the point as to why they're different. Don't want to get all Hobbesian but the reason they are different is because nation states have a monopoly on violence. If you choose you don't believe in pounds tomorrow your tax is still due in pounds, if you refuse to pay you'll eventually be arrested, if you refuse to be arrested you'll be bashed over the head. Everything naturally flows from this principle, it gives pounds value that cannot simply evaporate because people decide they're worthless.
  17. The definition of who's a wool is so much broader these days. It can mean literally anyone not from the city. I was on the LFC forum a few years ago and someone referred to the Malaysian fans attending a pre-season tour as wools.
  18. I was in a pub in Liverpool city centre on Saturday night and there was a bloke with a Wigan jacket on, as well as a bloke in a Warrington jacket. From this tiny sample I can conclusively conclude that the wools are taking over.
  19. Not to mention the inherent price increase, for labour and the extra batteries needed, the ratio right now is 1 battery per car by definition you'll need more than that to make recharging work.
  20. Always love logging on to RLFANS. Gives off huge "graphic design is my passion" vibes.
  21. Tonga would work, I'd prefer Samoa or even both because I feel like there'll be a revenge/bit of needle element after the WC. If it's Tonga donate some money to the Tsunami relief fund and find someone to name a trophy after, build a bit of a narrative around it, and be more ambitious than Warrington or other SL grounds. Make the best out of it.
