  1. Cornwall losing 10-18 to York Acorn and now a man down with 15 to play.
  2. I am afraid I was one of those who was saying that Ben Duckett was living in cloud cuckoo land after the first day, when India were 120 runs behind with 9 wickets left of their first innings. He said England were in a good position! Well what do I know? In my defence, I know that India really do not lose games at home from that position.
  3. Yes, absolutely. Although Bury St Edmonds, Ely and Norwich is your typical trio. Then there’s your Royal Peculiars. (NB Not referring to Prince Andrew here!)

  5. Need to turn the heat down in the burger van by all accounts...
  6. Tongue firmly in cheek. I was just trying to pre-empt the antipodean excuses...
  7. Engelbert will be played each time Penrith complain that the ruck is too slow. 'Please release me, let me go' will resonate around the stadium.
  8. Work visit, I'm afraid! Southwell is a strange place - or at least it is geographically speaking - as it is in the middle on nowhere. It is very unlike many places that have a Cathedral/Minster etc.
  9. I was just in Southwell today and immediately thought of you and this thread. The clear blue skies were only dominated by the striking front towers of the Minster. Stunning.
  10. Of those listed, Coventry has some interesting modern architecture, alongside the blitz remains. Truro is a big old building which dominates the city skyline and Liverpool has two belters; the Anglican Cathedral and the architecturally acclaimed Roman Catholic Cathedral, Paddy’s Wigwam.
  11. The latter two are a little less impressive in size. Do they make up for it in architecture? If you find yourself down South anytime soon, Canterbury, Rochester and St Albans are all belters; and very different from each other.
  12. Sky have confirmed to me that they do not know if their streaming service will come at an additional cost to the usual sky sports subscription. They say that it will be a 3rd party streaming platform and details are not known at this time. That doesn't make it easy for currently SS subscribers to make a decision whether to buy the season ticket at a really great price. If they don't then sky charge a load more for their streaming service (bundled with EFL games) then we will have missed out on the season ticket offer and have to pay £20 a month instead.. Equally, if I buy the season ticket and then find out I can get it free with my current sky subscription, I am out of pocket. I might see if the RFL have any idea... It's the only negative I can see at the moment, but it needs some clarity.
  13. Much of this looks very positive, and less than £10 a month for the subscription is very good. Here's my problem; I already subscribe to sky sports. If they introduce a fee for the streaming platform, I have missed out on the Super League+ season ticket price. Some clarity needed...

  15. Correct. And 17 RL players are currently banned by WADA (for a range of violations). It is the highest ratio of all sports, apparently.
  16. Real Ales (Pale and IPA) 1. JHB (Oakham) 2. Jaipur (Thornbridge) 3. Summer Lightening (Hopback) 4. Citra (Oakham) 5. Saltaire Blonde (Saltaire) 6. Kaiser (Welbeck) 7. Goose Island IPA 8. Hop Twister (Salopian) 9. Proper Job (St Austell) 10. Shipyard (Marstons) Other close contenders include two Ossett Brewery ales, Yorkshire Blonde and White Rat
  17. Agree with all of that, but I think the SuperLeague+ service goes to 4 games from 6 when the Sky streaming service begins?
  18. Just trying to get my head around this. Sky Sports subscribers can watch all games each week? Super League + subscribers can watch all but the 2 main Sky pick games each week? Or do I misunderstand the offer for current sky subscribers? It looks like the Super League + subscription will sit between £10.99 and £17.99 per month.
  19. In the West Midlands, Coventry Bears may be your nearest club, followed closely by Leamington Royals. They both run Primary age groups. The Midlands is a huge geographical area. I have added the clubs onto a google map to show just how spread out we all are! https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1hUDxCWX3joTRb3SQ0vMsagiCjtvFDRg&usp=sharing
  20. There’s very little your way, unfortunately. I’d imagine Nottingham to be the closest to you, but their youngest team last year was u15. Funnily enough, on my role with the Regional board, I have been banging the drum for more easy access to this sort of information for wannabe participants. We will be developing a new website in the coming months to ensure this happens, and is accurate, as the RFL one is not. In the East Midlands in 2024, there looks to be primary-aged activity at: Bassetlaw Bulldogs, Immingham Wasps, Google Vikings, Bolsover Bulls, Sheffield Forgers and Isle of Axholm.
  21. Midlands Development for all junior activity, and RFL national competitions for girls and Masters. Midlands juniors is growing again, but it’s hard work.
  22. A brief update from the Bulldogs. We are running teams this year as follows: Pups (3-5 yrs), U7s, U9s, U11s, U12s, U14s, U16s, 12s girls, U14s girls and Masters RL. Today, our volunteers ran our first of three school's festivals for the Spring term, focussing on recruiting for our girls teams.
  23. Now, just to be clear; have IMG had a hand in this or not?
