  1. Topping the league is a big deal for me,it is far easier to get to a grand final than to top the league,in 1998 we just smanaged to scrape into the play offs on the last day of the season yet we got to the grand final and were only minuites away from winning it,in 2009 we finished 6th yet we got to the semi final and only lost by six points, yet in all those years, barring 2010,we have never come any where near topping the league.Between 2011 and 2015,ive no doubt we will get to at least 1 more grand final, but we may not top the league in that time, its not an easy thing to do you know.
  2. Its easy to criticise after the event,i still dont now if choosing to kick was right or wrong, but ive no doubt in my mind, that if we had chosen to receive,we would have been lucky to get the half way line and would have had to kick from 10 yards in our own half, giving fax the opportunity to bring the ball back well into our half. Then again there was always the chance one of our players could have made a half break and made an extra 15 -20 yards, who knows?
  3. I too dont like the golden point,i never liked it in football and i dont like it in RL.BUT,with the scores level after 80 minuites,i thought the golden point gave us the best chance of winning the game,i think if it had been ten minuites each way,and the momentum Halifax had, they would have gone on to win easily.
  4. Me too Robin, normally at the end of a season im ready for a rest after suffering mental exhaustion from watching fev ,but this season, despite the heartache of sunday,i feel as fresh as a daisy and im ready for the new season.Roll on 2011.
  5. They just smashed their record transfer fee as well robin, a whopping
  6. Dont forget the great big favour we did you on the last game of last seaon.I think you still owe us one more.
  7. Warren Jowett just said that dews were playing against 19 men,he said the dissalowed try from the kick for offside, was infact, onside(couldnt tell from where i was),and he said finns try was a double movement,i was stood right i front and bostock definateley let go of finn who then planted the ball over the line.
  8. I agree with you to a certain extent robin, the vast majority of our squad have decent F/T jobs and decent P/T rugby contracts, and are not going to be intersted in SL unless they are offered a decent annual salary over 2-3 years(which aint gonna happen),but a player like briggs(who i think is good enough to be given A SL chance),who is still relatively young,or JJP(who i think lacks pace for SL) who may have just one shot at SL,would probably be willing to take up a modest SL contract.
  9. Yes robin, but if players are coming out of contract or have clauses in their contracts saying they can go for free if a SL club comes in for them, then its a no brainer as far as SL clubs are concerned.A SL club could offer them a relatively small full time contact and if they come up trumps, then great, and if they fall short of SL standard then he gets released when his contact expires.
  10. Thats the tackiest football song since ossies dream can see fans singing along after a few beers though.
  11. Absolutley fantastic result, ill be able to look at the league table now,i haven't dared look at it since we lost to toulouse,in fact ive spent the last 2 weeks hid behind the sofa with a bag over my head.
  12. As far as im aware of Matt, the 2012 franchises will be announced in june next year, thats before next years NRC final or the grand final,so if a team wins either of them next year it will only tick a box for the 2015 franchise application.
  13. You still avn't answered my qustion,is it Arnie or Gary ?mind you i also think that Garys got a little bit of Nick Kamen in him........which bit i dont know
  14. Absolutley fantastic ! but let me ask you one question dave, was that a young Arnold Shwarzenegger at the back or was it Gary Crumpton?
  15. Bramall Lane pitch dimensions,101.2mtr x 62.2mtr.
  16. If we are lucky to be were we are, then we are not the only ones,so far we have beaten BATLEY,dewsbury,WHITEHAVEN,BARROW and HALIFAX,Leigh have drawn with BARROW,beaten WHITEHAVEN,HALIFAX,keighley. toulose and BATLEY.Anybody notice any similarities?
  17. Theres a small snippet of news on the Ridings FM website,it says that a planning application is being put together within the next month, and it is THOUGHT that redevolopment of the current ground rather than a new stadium is the preffered plan, but there are no quotes from anybody. Also,if the pitch is to be moved forward by 25mtr,then surely the main stand and clubhouse would have to be knocked down, for starters if the pitch was to be the same length as it is now, that would make the try line at the RW end of the ground to be roughly were the perimiter fence is,and if they were to make the pitch 100mtr full length, then that would put the tryline on the training field, and the clubhouse would be on the half way line, which would mean a restricted veiw for anybody in the main stand, also im sure the club would want somewhere bigger for its hospitallity, which seems to be outgrowing the current facilities.Im sure that redevelopment of the ground would be for at least 3 sides, this would be more in line with the "jaw dropping news" rather than just a new stand at the railway end.Anyway, as of now this is just pure speculation,so we'll have to wait and see.just as long as we don't get Multiplex to do it.
