Excellent win at Donny today!

an excellent performance on a big dry pitch, completely opposite to yesterday, the team looked sharp in attack and covered well in defence,  Jack Lee from dummy half got us on the front foot early on sending Micky Haley in for 2 close range tries and with Andy Kain and Danny Ansell creating the gaps and with Jimmy Watson backing up the breaks it was soon a case of how many we would score.A  ht score of 18-0 could have been more when Casey went through but held on too long and Muffy missed the chance, Donny with Cooke,y spraying out the passes got near the line a few times but our 1st half defence was excellent, once again Brad Brennan looks a decent signing as does Callam Casey but tbh everyone played well today. The 2nd half with Jack Lee off and Grimmer on was much of the same with Ritchie Barnett getting an early try off a kick and then Grimmer cut through and put Watto in for his 2nd, Donny nicked a try back at 30-0 but further tries from  a Andy Kain break and a Muffy try on the hooter gave us  42-12 win against a full strength Donny team.On this evidence its gonna be a good season, players like Jack Lee and Andy Kain give us the options on attack and Danny Ansell is fast developing playing alongside them.

There was an air of positivity in every department, plus the strength in depth as Barry rang the changes. A big shout for the players, especially those that doubled up, After watching this display everyone at the club must feel more confident for the arduous season that lies before us,

Don't like to read too much into pre-season games but that was a dominant performance yesterday, albeit against a rather lackadaisical Doncaster team. Eye-catching performances all over the pitch and some good tries scored. Particularly pleased with pace we were able to play with on the back of some nice quick play-the-balls.

Two games in 24 hours wasn't ideal but hopefully the coaching staff will have a learnt a lot about the players and permutations from the weekend.

Personally speaking though, still a long way from deciding to our best 17 !!

wow didn't see that scoreline coming.....whilst doncaster have not not really strengthened this year, they are still a good side and after last season's top 5 finish and being the only side to beat Leigh, that is a great scalp for you without a doubt and will give you a great deal of confidence going into the season. Maybe a few shocks in store this season !!

Really pleasing weekend, loads of positives from across the whole squad over both days. We have 30 players all staking a claim for a place in the starting line up against Fev.

I think for the first time in years we have top players in all our pivotal positions. We also have an abundance of size and pace in the back line.

With Brown and Flanagan yet to feature, we look to be in a good place. Our 17 at Roachdale will be a good indicator of who Barry will go with at Fev on the 16th.

Exciting times ahead.
