AFL up against NRL in Brisbane

Recommended Posts

Brisbane Lions v Melbourne Demons last game of the season, currently 2 v 3 and possibly a game for top dog has been set to clash with Broncos v Storm game, also likely to be a top 4 clash.

AFL dont announce day and time of game until a few weeks in advance, broncos game was fixed last November.

Makes no sense at all…even for the rival TV companies involved.

What makes no sense?

Not fixing the fixture in November or not fixing it until a few weeks before the game?

Not avoiding a clash when you have the opportunity.

Quite a number of people would have gone to both games.

This is the second time in 6 weeks AFL have set the lions game to clash with the broncos.

AFL have eight other game times apart from the sole friday night slot.

Does seem a strange call. Maybe they’re flexing their muscle while the Lions are strong enough.

2022 Home game crowd averages ytd

Broncos: 27,937

Lions: 24,535

Thats pretty tight for what we are told is the most RL heartland of all RL heartlands.

That's pretty tight, indeed - especially in Queensland, which is primarily a rugby league base.

Still, I'll take in the Broncos, just on general principle.
