New wall’s on the popular side.

The council decided that the cladding on the back wall was not strong enough to prevent a surge from the crowd and there was a danger of spectators falling into Clive Street. Unbelievable but true. To be fair to the council it was raised in our structural survey report so their hands were to a certain degree tied but surely common sense should have prevailed. The numbers are already restricted on the terrace and under what scenario would there be a surge to the back?

The council threatened to close the whole of the terrace if we do not put mitigating plans in place. The cost of barriers to go in front of the cladding was estimated at over £30k and would have given us nothing except waste money so we have decided to build some more outlets.

This wasn't budgeted for but we had little alternative. The outlets as a minimum could provide much needed storage space and it is possible we could bring merchandise over to that part of the ground.
