Well assuming one of these does end up hosting it then it will finally be a new hosting nation, altho PNG and NZ have obviously hosted games/groups in the past. The smaller 10 team comp maybe helps some of these nations bid (could they cope with the scale of a 16 team comp in NZ as an example when in reality the country has a population smaller than London?)

As with the women’s and wheelchair I guess it all comes down to financial guarantees.

I mean, they have coped with a 20-team, 45 day, 48 game Rugby Union World Cup all on their own.

I genuinely think that if the NRL and the RFL work in tandem to grow the game in the USA, we could get a successful WC in 2030 there. Adding more games to the current Vegas events in different cities with players/coaches/referees going to community/junior/schools teams to really get the ball rolling.

So in conclusion, I look forward to NZ2030.

Such a smaller organisation though, if we are being realistic this is way too early.

I think front runners for all three are:

2028: France, New Zealand

2029: All three could do it well.

2030, New Zealand, then a big gap to PNG.

Seeing as PNG are part hosting 2026, I would do: 2028 - France, 2029 - USA, 2030 - New Zealand.

It would be great to do things in South Africa or Kenya, and more in PNG, but then that is what they have the World Series for. Especially if it grows in size.

Assuming they bid for them, you could go:

2025 M+W: South Africa

2027 W: PNG

2029 M: USA or Kenya

Is there a reason why the M62 England not considered for then next mens WC? Did we lose too much money in the last M62 England WC?

As until we get a proper international game going, you only have Eng in the NH capable of even getting close to breaking even in a WC.  France might have the facilites but they don't have the interest in the sport for crowds in games not involving France to be higher than low 000's

Basically the tournament broke even. A small loss, which I think is money still owed to them.

Your point about other NH hosts.... That is bascially why they have kept the size of each tournament compact.

Men's tournament is now a week less, with only 65% of the amount of 2021 teams to pay travel or accommodation costs for. Add that to splitting out the individual tournaments separately, and it should mean that running a RLWC is much more affordable. I think you could now genuinely see a 'smaller' RL nation hosting a tournament. Maybe not in this 28-30 cycle, but possibly in 32-34.

I hate the M62 corridorfetish of the RFL as much as anyone but I cannot agree with this post, of course, thanks to the reduction and the separation of the RLWC the M62corridor can again host a RLWC, would be better if England would host one but I do not hold my breath as long as the old gang still continues to run and sink the ship
