Full Time Report: USA 32 Cook Islands 20

USA halfbacks Joe Paulo and Craig Priestly stole the show as the Tomahawks recorded their first-ever victory in the Rugby League World Cup.

With hooker Joel Luani and sub Tui Samoa also in good form for the USA they added 22 second half points with tries from Joe Paulo, Samoa, Mark Offerdahl and Priestly to finish worthy winners.

But it wasn’t until the final eight minutes that the Tomahawks took command, with Cook Islands playing their part with tries in the second 40 from Lulia Lulia and Dominique Peyroux.

Despite windy and wet conditions in Bristol this was another highly entertaining encounter with a crowd of 7,247 seeing Joe Paulo take the man of the match award.
