Giants reject Sezer link with NRL club

Huddersfield Giants have laughed off claims that Aidan Sezer is set to leave the club.

A report in Australia claimed that the marquee halfback was set to sign for the NRL’s Wests Tigers, possibly to replace Benji Marshall, who turned 35 in February.

Sezer is currently in Australia during the Covid-19 pandemic and will remain there until nearer the time of Super League’s return date.

But there is no substance behind the rumour linking him with a Huddersfield exit, with the report apparently puzzling Sezer and the Giants’ hierarchy.

Sezer has settled in the UK and enjoying his rugby, having made an instant impression.

The Giants have won four of their opening five Super League games and he is currently second in the Man Of Steel standings.

He is under contract until the end of 2021 and the club is satisfied that he has no intention to leave.

Meanwhile, the Giants are continuing to work through their retention list and they hope to tie down another of their existing players this week.

Jake Wardle, Jon Luke Kirby, Sam Hewitt and the Senior twins, Innes and Louis, have already penned new deals.

They hope a sixth player will commit his future in the coming days.
