Warrington Wolves half-back Kurt Gidley insists the defensive performance his side produced to beat defending Super League champions Leeds in their season opener was “outstanding”.
The Wolves withstood a huge barrage of attack from the Rhinos on Thursday night, but stood firm to snatch a 12-10 victory and start their season with a win.
And Gidley waxed lyrical about the Wolves’ defence post-game – and you can listen to the interview in full below.
“Our defence was what won us the game without a doubt; our on-line defending was simply outstanding,” said Gidley after the game.
Gidley also praised half-back partner Chris Sandow, who came up with the two big plays that produced both of Warrington’s tries on the night.
“That’s what Chris is capable of, definitely.
“With him having a full pre-season under his belt, and with the team knowing how much he can play, the boys really back him and he plays with high energy, he’s enthusiastic and he can play tough too when we need to.”
