GOSSIP: Huddersfield closing in on Manly utility

Huddersfield Giants are expected to complete the signing of Manly Sea Eagles’ Tom Symonds as early as this week.

Reports in Australia suggest that Symonds, who has made six NRL appearances for the Sea Eagles this year, is set to leave the Australian side with immediate effect.

He is understood to be on his way to the Giants, with Paul Anderson adding further reinforcements to his squad following the recent arrival of forward Sebastine Ikahihifo.

Symonds is a versatile player who can play at either centre, second-row or loose-forward.

In 2013 the Giants were linked with a move for Symonds, 27, while he was at the Syndey Roosters, however a move never materialised.

However, it would appear that Anderson has finally got a hold of his man, a timely boost as they look to keep their flickering hopes of a top eight finish alive when they take on Castleford tonight.
