GOSSIP: Walker closes in on move to “top-four” club

TotalRL understands that former Hull KR prop Adam Walker is closing in on a transfer – with it suggested to us that he has secured a deal at a “top-four club”.

Walker was the subject of stinging criticism from KR chairman Neil Hudgell earlier this week, who told the club’s official website he was the “first to head for the hills” in light of the club’s relegation to the Championship.

“I can’t blame any player for wanting to play in Super League but in my opinion Adam is a special case and we felt he owed us a year for the support the club has given him. Instead, he was the first to head for the hills,” Hudgell said.

“It was us who sat round the table with his legal team and repeatedly defended him in the face of criticism. By contrast, his agent has crawled out from under his stone at the smell of cash to take his slice. It’s a great disappointment for the club to lose Adam but we will move on.”

League Express revealed this week that up to half a dozen clubs were interested in the prop, who has now become a free agent after notifying the Robins he will be leaving the Lightstream Stadium.

And although there was firm interest from clubs in the bottom half of the league, Walker is now close to agreeing a deal with a side at the top end.
