Grand Final rematch set to be marquee game at Magic 2017

The RFL will confirm on Wednesday that Magic Weekend is heading back to Newcastle for a third consecutive year: with the 2016 Grand Final rematch the event’s marquee match.

Wigan defeated Warrington in the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford earlier this month, and they will square off at Magic Weekend for the very first time in 2017 as part of a revamped fixture schedule.

With Leigh Centurions debuting at the event and Hull KR heading to the Summer Bash, it means a reshuffle in the fixtures.

And with the Hull derby now no longer an option for Magic Weekend, it means the Black and Whites are likely to face off against fellow top-four side St Helens.

The other big matches include a mouthwatering West Yorkshire derby between Leeds and Castleford.
