Greek second division championship underway

Further to the national side’s success in the Balkan Championship and European C, three new teams – taking the total to five – will play in the Greek Second Division Championship this season.

For the first time, all will face each other home and away as the Hellenic Federation looks to build greater opportunities, especially for the increasing number of new players attracted to the sport.

In the opening round of games, last year’s divisional champions Napoli Lakonia won 50-14 at debutants Argos Wolves, based in the Peloponnese, while relegated Promitheas Rendi lost 20-18 to Haidari Lions from west Athens, who made their bow.

The second team of Pyrrihios Aspropyrgos had the bye.
