Greg Eden and Alex Foster recommit to Sheffield Eagles

SHEFFIELD EAGLES will still have trusty fullback Greg Eden and second rower Alex Foster next year, but backrower Jack Bussey has left the club.

Along with Foster and halfback Kai Morgan, Eden, 36 on November 14, is the third 2026 squad member to agree a contract extension for 2027 since Ryan Sheridan was recently unveiled as the club’s new coach,

Eden was signed from troubled North Wales in June, having had a loan stint at Super League Bradford as the scale of the Colwyn Bay club’s financial troubles became clear.

He began at hometown Castleford, and played for Huddersfield and Hull KR before a stint in Australia with Brisbane Broncos (he also turned out for their Queensland Cup feeder team Wynnum Manly Seagulls).

After a second spell at Castleford, during which he appeared in the 2017 Super League Grand Final defeat by Leeds with Sheridan assistant to Tigers coach Daryl Powell, he had spells at Halifax, Featherstone and Hunslet before joining North Wales eleven months ago.

Eden scored eight tries in eleven appearances for Sheffield, playing his part as the Eagles sealed a seventh-place finish and made stage two of the play-offs.

Sheffield have another experienced fullback in ex-Hull KR and York man Matty Marsh, who is working his way back to fitness following a lengthy knee injury.
