GREG EDEN is eyeing a crack at Barrow Raiders after settling in at Sheffield Eagles.
The experienced former Super League and NRL back has joined the now Dronfield-based club until the end of the campaign, providing coach Craig Lingard with a mid-season boost as he aims for the Championship play-offs.
Ex-Castleford Tigers, Huddersfield Giants, Hull KR, Brisbane Broncos, Halifax Panthers, Featherstone Rovers and Hunslet player Eden, 35, started this season at North Wales Crusaders before a loan stint at Bradford Bulls.
Now he is set for a Sheffield debut, and is expecting a tough test in Cumbria, with Barrow third in the table and the Eagles seventh.
Looking ahead to the cash with Barrow on Saturday (kick-off 6.00), Eden told Sheffield’s social-media team: “Barrow have been playing some good, expansive rugby and are near the top of the table for a reason.
“They have some good players, but so do we, and we believe we have what it takes to match them.
“Linners told us in our team meeting that we are one of only three sides to have beaten them in the league this year (22-6 at home in February), so that should give us a bit of confidence.”
Newcastle Thunder and Oldham have also got the better of Barrow.
