Griffin brothers to play on despite father’s death

Salford Red Devils trio Darrell, Josh and George Griffin will play on this weekend at Magic Weekend, just days after the death of their father.

All three men are in Iestyn Harris’ 19-man squad for the game – and they could play together as a trio for the very first time if all selected.

Their decision to play despite the loss has been praised by Salford owner Marwan Koukash on social media, and Josh himself has taken to Twitter admitting that it will be an emotional occasion when they play – but they are doing so in memory of their father.

He wrote on Twitter: “Me and my brothers have put our hands up this week to play in memory of him. Will be hardest thing we have done.

“He would have wanted us to take that field, he loved watching us play and I’m sure it’s going to be an emotional experience.”
