Tries from wingers Josh Charnley and Ryan Hall got England on the front foot in their quarter-final tie against France at the DW Stadium.
Charnley and Hall each crossed twice in the first half hour as England fought back from an early setback.
Although the French lost Kane Bentley through injury in the first minute they opened the scoring when Sebastien Raguin’s pass paved the way for Vincent Duport to power over.
A French error in the own quarter was penalised when Charnley crossed from a Sam Tomkins pass, the England fullback then appeared on the left to link with Rangi Chase to send Hall over.
Charnley’s second came from a Kallum Watkins flip pass and Hall ran in from a Leroy Cudjoe pass after earlier good work from James Graham, James Roby and Sean O’Loughlin.
