Half Time Report: Tonga 4 Scotland 20

Tries from rival fullbacks Glenn Fisi’iahi and Matthew Russell got this World Cup encounter off to an entertaining start at a wet Derwent Park in Workington.

Fisi’iahi burst through a massive gap in the Scottish defence to open the scoring with an unconverted try in the ninth minute.

Scotland replied five minutes later, Russell breaking out of a Siliva Havili tackle to shoot over. Brough converted and added a penalty on 21 minutes.

Fisi’iahi then failed to field a Ben Fisher kick, Fisher following up to score with Brough adding the conversion.

Then to add insult to injury, after Brett Carter had scored in the corner, Brough’s conversion went over after bouncing on the crossbar.
