HALIFAX PANTHERS have signed experienced and versatile back Lloyd Roby, who could make his debut in Sunday’s Championship game at his most recent team North Wales Crusaders.
The 27-year-old joined the Colwyn Bay club ahead of the the 2025 season, so ending a second spell at Widnes Vikings.
He helped North Wales win last year’s League One title, but amid their insolvency episode this year, he became a free agent, having played seven times in 2026 and 29 for them in all.
Born in Warrington, Roby emerged at community club Rylands Sharks and came through the old Widnes Academy, topping 50 appearances before spending the 2023 campaign at Keighley, then returning to Widnes.
With loan stints at Oldham and Rochdale included, he has topped 110 appearances and 40 tries as well as being an occasional goal-kicker.
“It’s great having Lloyd on board,” said coach Kyle Eastmond, who has been working to get Halifax back on track following their mid-season liquidation.
“He adds quality to the group, game IQ and is a real competitor, and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
Halifax suffered a second narrow loss in three matches when they were edged out 26-22 in their derby at Batley Bulldogs last time out.
