Hanbury pledges his future to Widnes

Widnes Vikings full-back Rhys Hanbury has put speculation to bed by signing  a new three-year deal with the club.

Hanbury has been one of the standout stars of the Super League season, with his performances earning him the top spot in the current Albert Goldthorpe Medal table.

Rumours had surfaced that a number of NRL clubs were chasing the 30-year-old, but Denis Betts has managed to tie down the star on a long-term deal.

Hanbury’s retention is a huge boost to the Vikings, who have managed to tie down five key performers to new deals in the last week. Joe Mellor, Eamon O’Carroll, Chris Dean and Stefan Marsh have all committed to the club in the last 10 days, with Hanbury now joining that group.
