Hardaker admits Golding will be one to watch

Leeds Rhinos and England full-back Zak Hardaker has admitted that after a sensational performance against New Zealand last weekend, young full-back Ashton Golding is one to keep an eye on at the Rhinos.

Golding played superbly during the 34-16 loss to the Kiwis, catching the eye whilst Hardaker was away on international duty with England, preparing for Saturday’s game against France.

And the Rhinos star told the Yorkshire Post that he’s been impressed with what Golding has done in his brief career so far, and joked he’ll even have to watch his back to make sure Golding doesn’t snatch his position at the back of the field.

“He’s brilliant,” he said. “He’s a fantastic player and definitely one for the future especially at Leeds.

“I do have to say he’s a brilliant lad and really professional to say how young he is.

“I will have to watch my back there as Ashton he is a terrific player.”

Hardaker is expected to start at full-back on Sunday for the first Test against New Zealand after the injury that ruled Sam Tomkins out of the series.
