Hohaia gets one-match ban for Flower incident

St Helens half-back Lance Hohaia has received a one-match ban for striking Ben Flower in Saturday’s Grand Final.

The New Zealander submitted an early guilty plea after being charged with a Grade B offence.

We believe Flower will learn his fate tonight. He is guaranteed to be given at least an eight-match suspension after he was charged with a Grade F offence, but RFL chief Nigel Wood has already hinted his ban may go beyond this.

Flower became the first man to be sent off in a Grand Final when he knocked out Hohaia with a left hook then hit him again while on the floor semi-conscious. Wigan admirably played on with 12 men but eventually lost the match 14-6.
