St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham has revealed that former half-back Lance Hohaia thinks he’s let his teammates down by calling time on his career in the sport.
It was announced last Wednesday that Hohaia was to retire from Rugby League with immediate effect, before it was revealed that ‘recurrent post-match concussion-type symptoms’ were the reason for his career coming to a close.
And Cunningham said that he was kept fully in the loop about Hohaia’s decision to quit, revealing that he thinks Hohaia had made his mind up about retiring a while ago.
“I spoke to him before he announced he was going to leave. He let me know what was going on,” Cunningham said.
“He’s a bit disappointed that he’s let the team down but he seems fine. He made his decision a long time ago I think in his head.”
