Hull FC hooker Danny Houghton admits he will be keeping a close eye on Wigan’s game with Warrington tonight, with Hull’s treble hopes still intact after their 18-12 victory over Wakefield.
Lee Radford’s side moved to within one point of the Wolves with victory over the Wildcats, although Warrington will clinch the League Leaders’ Shield tonight if they can overcome Shaun Wane’s side.
Having already won one of the three trophies on offer this season, Houghton is desperate to add another two to the trophy cabinet by the end of the season, meaning he is desperate for Wigan to spoil the party at the Halliwell Jones Stadium tonight.
“I’ll have a big eye on it, really,” he told TotalRL.
“We want to win the treble and hopefully Wigan can do us a favour. But if not, that guarantees us a home tie virtually, but it is out of our hands at the minute and we need a couple of favours.
“That victory was Grand Final rugby, it was bitty and wet and it’s about the team that can grind the win out with an individual play and Mahe did that for us in the end. We can grow on that because we’ve won.”
Monday’s League Express will feature a piece with Houghton about his international aspirations.
