OLIVER LEYLAND is aiming to carry on making the most of his time at Huddersfield Giants after signing a deal to the end of the season.

The London Broncos-produced halfback last month cut short his time at Warrington Wolves which was significantly affected by an anterior cruciate ligament issue.

Signed from London on a two-year contract ahead of the 2025 season, Leyland was injured on his fifth appearance for the club in the May.

He was sidelined for almost a year, and while he has played for Warrington Reserves this term, didn’t manage a further first-team appearance.

The Kent-born 25-year-old, who impressed with London in Super League in 2024 after being a key figure in their promotion from the Championship, had been on trial at Huddersfield, who have halfback Oliver Russell out with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Leyland trained with the squad and made two second-team outings and will compete with Adam Clune, who has just returned after a hamstring injury, Tui Lolohea and Kieran Rush for a berth.

The elder brother of Hull KR hooker Bill Leyland says he has already learned from those three and added: “Training with them is helping to improve my game.

“I’ve worked hard since coming and played some Reserve games which I think I did well in, so it’s a good feeling that the staff have shown faith in me and offered a deal.”

Huddersfield director of rugby Andy Kelly added: “Oli is a fantastic addition to our squad.

“It gives us a bit more depth in the halfbacks. We’ve been a little bit frail at times with cover, and if he’s required to play, we know he’s capable of doing it.”
