Hull FC coach Lee Radford has revealed that the club are up to the maximum spend on their salary cap – and they will have to maneuver someone out of the club on loan to strike a deal for Lee Smith.
Radford is keen to sign the former Leeds and Wakefield back after he impressed in their pre-season friendlies, but it appears someone will have to leave to make the necessary space.
TotalRL.com understands a number of players could be on a list of potential players to leave on short-term deals, and Radford says they’d be willing to let someone leave.
“At present we are obviously up to the cap,” Radford told the Hull Daily Mail.
“If a club comes in and asks for players on loan over the short term then we’ll consider that.
“If we are bottle-necked in that position then we would be willing.
“And if I felt a young kid would maybe benefit from playing in the Championship because that might be a slightly higher level than the under-23s, then that might come into consideration as well.
“We’ll just have to wait and see. We are monitoring the situation daily.”
