Hull FC become latest side to launch Ladies team

Hull FC have become the latest side to launch their first-ever female team, Hull FC Ladies.

The formation of the Ladies team comes off the back of a hugely successful a female rugby league camp for girls aged 12 and older at the Youth Performance Centre.

Supported by Active Humber and Hull University, over 20 girls from all across Hull attended the camp, where they were coached by the Hull FC Foundation team.

The team aims to provide a pathway for girls into female rugby league, and there has already been an increased level of participation in the female game.

Community Development Officer Richard Squires said: “It’s fantastic that we have launched a ladies team off the back of the girls-only sessions at the Youth Performance Centre recently.

“There will be a few girls’ teams through the high volume of female participation in rugby league, which will include an open age team.

“This should aim to create a pathway girls wanting to progress through female rugby league in the Hull area, where they can go on and represent their country.”

The Ladies team’s first training session is on Friday 16th September at the Youth Performance Centre from 6pm until 7.30pm. They will train every Friday evening at those times.

There is also a tri-series against Hull Kingston Rovers Under-16s starting on Monday 24th October. More details will be announced in due course.
