Hull FC release Steve Prescott Foundation away shirt

Hull FC have revealed their away shirt for 2015 with a brand new sponsor adorning the front – The Steve Prescott Foundation.

Prescott – who made 100 appearances for Hull across two spells, scoring over 600 points in the process – tragically passed away last year following a rare form of stomach cancer. The club will make a donation to The Steve Prescott Foundation for each and every shirt sold.

The decision has been praised by Prescott’s wife Linzi, who says the family are “overwhelmed” by the move from the club.

“We have been overwhelmed by this decision. It’s fantastic and we never thought the club would do something like this,” she said.

“To keep Steve’s name alive in Hull is great. This means a lot to the family.

“Hull FC and the people of this city have given Steve and his foundation massive support. This place was very special to Steve and both our boys were born here.”

Hull boss Lee Radford – who played with Prescott – says that the shirt is a fitting way to celebrate the club’s 150th anniversary.

“This is our 150th year and there is no more fitting way to celebrate than supporting this charity. I played with Steve and he was always very courageous as a player and as a person,” Radford said.

“The way he battled his illness is testament to the character he was. Obviously we all supported him during his illness, but there was also a lot of respect.

“The way he conducted himself on and off the field is a credit to his family. This is a really good gesture by the club and every shirt bought will mean money will be donated to the foundation.
