Hull FC’s recruitment done for 2017, says Radford

Hull FC coach Lee Radford has said that Halifax’s Nick Rawsthorne is likely to be their third and final signing for 2017.

The Black and Whites have a large contingent of their squad under contract for next year, and have confirmed the signings of Jake Connor and Josh Griffin alongside Rawsthorne for 2017.

But Radford said there’s no more fresh faces coming in for next season, and says the only newcomers could be those who get pushed up from the City of Hull Academy.

“Nobody else will be coming that’s for sure. We’re done in terms of bringing blokes in. We’ll maybe promote a few from the City of Hull Academy and just make sure our squad is nice and thick for more reserves grade games next season,” Radford told the Hull Daily Mail.

One of Radford’s signings, Connor, will be aiming to prevent Hull from making it 11 wins in succession on Thursday night when FC travel to Huddersfield.

And the Hull boss joked that he doesn’t need Connor to put in a performance on Thursday night given how he’s already signed on at FC for next season.

“I’ve told him he doesn’t need to impress now that we’ve agreed a deal for 2017,” laughed Radford. “His job’s done.

“I watched him last week against Wakefield and he showed one or two glimpses of the skill set that you can’t teach. He’s got that in abundance.

“I’m sure he’ll want to perform but I’m hoping he doesn’t.”
